I agree we have been asking for a siege type game mode forever but we got tribute (it's not a bad game mode). I just want something new.

And yes the test your metal is new but it's just elimination with special bots. Still fun though

A challenging gamemode against NPC's would also be nice. It's quite relaxing playing against them here and there, but they're too easy and predictable. I still think they could have done more with the minions in this game, seing a full on siege or warzone would have been epic!

Just watched Two Towers again today and was thinking of the battle of helms deep. That is how I see a siege mode when servers can handle it. Defenders behind the wall attackers outside. The part where the gate is failing and Aragorn and Gimli jump over and take them on until the gate is more secure could be done with minions instead of Uruk-hai. Then the wall breaks and as the attackers enter the defenders retreat further in and try to hold. Then the defenders get driven back to that final room with the attackers just outside. Just like Gimli blowing that horn, that could be the sound of defenders breaking and have one last stand. A seige mode could just follow that battle scene for scene and it would be amazing.

It would need to last at least 20 minutes to make it a good battle. Dominion can last a bit but it can end too quick with a good gank. Tribute can be over in a few minutes if you loose the first battle for each shrine. I've been on both sides of that where it takes longer to get in the game and it loaded than actual play time. There are levels in the story mode that are good I think but it's been a long time. A Viking one as the raider I kind of remember. Can't wait till servers and hope they have something big maps planned besides just doing reworks.

There are also a lot of maps in the story mode that don't have good modes to go with them. One favorite of mine is the Samurai fortress from "Up the Beach", where you start down on the coast and have to scale that massive wall and fight your way into the fortress. That'd make for a really cool "attack/defend" style gamemode like I mentioned on the last page. Another good one is Imperial Palace from "Unity". First the courtyard area with all the cool houses you can break into and, of course, the famous Elephant battle area. Not sure what game modes would work with these maps, but they'd be cool all the same.

a siege game mode would be great. we need (and there is room for it) a larger/longer battle game mode.

6v6 or 8v8. with dedicated servers shouldnt be a problem. (but even if it was again 4v4 i 'd be ok with it)

larger multi staged maps. capture a castle/camp/village. 1st stage capture the outer fortifications/ gain entry (walls/gate houses/ whatever). 2nd stage capture the inner courtyard/ main area. 3rd stage capture the keep/ defenders last stand. different ways of achieving said objectives, by capturing and holding zones /protecting siege engines/reaching and activating environmental items(levers/ropes/whatever). everytime a stage is lost the surviving defenders will have limited time to retreat to the next stage.

victory conditions could be a mix of the point system we already have (obviously adjusted to the larger maps/different gameplay elements) with tickets (limited respawns for the attackers) and time. for example 1st stage could be: attackers capture and hold two zones on the walls for x amount of minutes.->opens a gate move to 2nd stage defenders have to retreat. defenders holding these zones gathering points. if they reach 1000 points the attackers go into breaking, kill all enemy heroes the siege has failed defenders win. if the attackers manage to capture one zone defenders loose x amount of points siege continues. 2nd stage: attackers capture two zones, hold a zone for x amount of mins gain access to a lever. pull both levers -> move to stage 3 (this could lead to very intense situations like the attackers owing the zone but a small number of defenders actually preventing them from pulling the lever) defenders have to retreat. defenders-> same as stage one. 3rd stage: a single cap zone. Attackers have limited amount of respawns (respawn tickets). capture the zone and gather x amount of points , defenders go into breaking, kill all heroes win. defenders hold the zone until the attackers run out of tickets.

attackers and defenders should have different advantages and disadvantages. (aka asymmetrical gameplay elements). examples would be faster respawn timers for the attackers, defenders faster recapping of lost zones, choke points for the defenders to defend that the attackers will have to go through.

it should include minions. footsoldiers, archers and captains.

rough and from the top of my head, but the potential is there....

capture the flag, escort, a 3 lane moba style battle but instead of towers in the lane maybe a powerful AI boss?
