Conqueror is good now. Balanced more on par with others. His shield bash doesn't necessarily feel faster to me, but then again, Warden's shoulder charge seems slower. It could just be the new animations during the attacks making them feel different.
I like the new parry animation, as it way more obvious now when you do it successfully.
If you had an extensive full block stance feinting playstyle, you will be somewhat disappointed because that playstyle is dead now because of the delays on full block stance enter and exit, tripled stamina cost, and inability to cancel lights with full block stance. It's a shame because it was the much more interesting way to play Conqueror before the rework.Originally Posted by Waxfacts Go to original post
That being said, the damage buffs, speed buffs, and more flexible chains are very helpful and I think have accomplished their goals. Shield uppercut by pressing guard break on heavy startup has its place and is a solid option mid-chain. The unblockable charged attacks are good for getting better punishes on wall splats or OOS. They're also superb in 4v4 modes, I was raining down a ton of the top charged heavies yesterday with hardly any trouble.
Shield bash is pretty much the same besides doing more damage and less stamina damage. People were dodging it about the same rate as they usually do when I was playing yesterday and I had no problem dodging it myself.
I'm on the fence with the flail uppercut, it's better than the previous situation with passive superior block but I've died quite a few times just trying too hard to implement it into my playstyle. It's too easy to get hit in the enter stage and I have this great habit of leaving just before an attack comes out.
Conq is pretty balanced. He has proper infinite chains, and can charge up a heavy for unblockable heavy or cancel it into a bash. He has an uppercut that he can use in all-block, but you can't deploy the all-block super quick. It's like an aramusha blade barricade, but slower. It's nice when you do get it to work at times though, but you'll often get guardbroken while intentionally trying to use it.
He still can't feint, so you'll have to keep relying on all-block to do it for you, and his superior block only works if you "deflect" attacks or startup an attack at the right moment. He's feeling more like an assassin at this point, requiring lots of skill to get his moves correct. I'm liking the changes tho
He's kinda underwhelming to me. If you are struck with a heavy while holding the unblockable charge, it resets. He only gets guarenteed lights now, as the shield bash doesn't allow for a heavy attack unless you wall splat.
Kensei is a perfect counter to him with the pommel strike and Highlander is a great one too with the kick and caber toss. Its just my personal opinion into him. He still hits like a wet noodle imo.
No, one of Kensei's worst mus is Conqeuror, arguably his worst. It takes more than that pommel strike to beat conq and sadly it isn't enough... the shield bash can hit him before he gets that pommel off. Also Conq being faster and having more health hurts kensei in the long run in a 1v1 setting.Originally Posted by Sauronbaine Go to original post
I've made every single kensei rage quit or just leave the game. my win rate is 90% on him. my health bar is always more than half way full. The guy just can't get it done with his mix ups without eating a shield bash.
Strange as Kensei its opposite. I wreck COnq's.Originally Posted by RenegadeTX2000 Go to original post
not many good Conqs sadly. Just like how there aren't many Highlanders. I wish this game had a real ranking system like other fighters. So you could see in game who the best players were.Originally Posted by Sauronbaine Go to original post
Any conq that tries to use that terrible move in 1v1 is not playing him right... You only use it in 4v4's. Has no purpose for 1v1's as there are better moves to bait with and i'm talking about his charge unblockable.Originally Posted by Sauronbaine Go to original post
Guaranteed lights that do 15 dmg, the same as highlanders lights. That adds up... and the moment you get baited into side dodging, you get punished for double that...
The way Conq beats Kensei is beating him to the punch, for his moves come out faster than kensei's. Also Conq maintains space control better than kensei outside of his pommel strike so it will whiff and if you whiff it, conq actually has time to punish you with forward shield bash... Even then, side by side comparison he beats you in speed, and distance... "Shield bash vs Pommel Strike."
Walk speed is also a deciding factor in this match up for Kensei has to be in range to land pommel strike which that move btw lacks distance on compared to Conq forward shield bash.
Everytime I mention shield bash I'm not talking his side step version or his soft feint into it, I'm just talking Raw forward version into it that's equal speed to Warlords headbutt.
If conq sees you go for heavy, he actually has time to just shield bash you before you can cancel into the pommel strike itself...
Walking to open people up is underrated and under utilized, it's like people are spoiled with unlock tech.
Also I haven't paid attention to the actual damage number but how much does Kenseis light damage do? Also considering Conq has more health... The battle of the free lights, conq wins that as well.
This mu clearly comes down to harassment and sadly Conq one ups kensei in it.
Conq wins.
Enlighten me on why he isn't better than his prior self to the re work. Also send me link. not a fan of searching through spam bots etc.Originally Posted by AHairyCactus Go to original post
