    Rip Centurion

Apologies for the lacking title. But tested him post parry changes and he no longer gets his light parry punish. Which for frame of reference is a fully charged heavy into a fully charged jab into eagle talons. I'm not exactly sure why this is the case though since they extended the stun on light parries. I get that his fully charged heavy is 1000ms and the light stun is 900ms. I'm just not understanding why he was able to do it prior to the parry changes. Anyway. Post parry changes he gets an uncharged heavy on both a heavy parry and a light parry. He also gets a parry counter on both for good stamina damage and an uncharged heavy finisher.

Unsure how I feel about Centurion now. On one hand he's the only hero (that I know) that gets a heavy on a heavy parry right now. And because heavy parries only give lights his heavy just got that much safer. But now he lacks good punishes. And has pretty much no access to his cutscene combo as far as duels go. If I were to compare him to anyone he'd be like a lot of people in the OG roster right now. That meaning he's now one trick/gimmicky and very boring.
I'm not saying he's bad now. He's still far from bad.

I wanted his light parry punish gone (all light parry punishes really.) I also wanted him to be less punishing. But I wanted a more usable kit in return. Instead i'm basically stuck with random thrown lights and raw/varied heavy timings. Quick throw doesn't work. Jab is now entirely useless in duels. Without access to a GB his pommel smacks which are used to apply pressure through stamina damage are basically gone. Legions kick is a non factor. zone is irrelevant when you can't cancel it. and jump heavy isn't cancelable and has huge recovery. highly punishable.

If the rest of the OG cast were only brought slightly up i'd be "fine" with where centurion now sits. But if they get lifted up to the new kensei level and he's left behind i'll be even more upset. To reclarify. I don't want centurion to be OP. I both like and wanted these parry changes. I'm just saying as a centurion main without knowing if he'll be touched on in the future I can only feel bad about where he currently sits. I love him thematically. But I don't find his gameplay fun or engaging anymore. He's hardly the "mix intensive" bully that he was meant to be.

I guess I really have to pick a new main now. inb4 "salty cent main has to play fair now."

Parry a light and get 65 confirmed damage is balanced? I think not, not in relation to what the rest of the cast gets from a light parry.

Parries, even light parries, should not be enough to let you open into one of the most devastating combo moves in the game. It's simply way too much reward for far too little risk. Landing the full-charged heavy with Cent' and subsequently getting to cutscene your enemies into oblivion (especially if they had the audacity to stand within 1 mile of the nearest wall) should be something you have to time perfectly. It's a very rewarding combo that can reduce most classes to half health or lower and cripple people's stamina, letting Cent' get away with it with a single parry is what made him so damn frustrating to fight against.

I will, however, say that prior to this patch, Cent' was kind of a one-trick-pony with this move. And now that it's a lot harder to land, Centurion lacks a lot of his previous stopping power. Perhaps he could use a rebalance of his own? (IIRC, all the classes will be getting rebalanced during S5, just at different intervals)

Never said it was balanced. Clearly stated I wanted it gone.
Point of the thread is that without his punishes his underperforming kit is even more pronounced now.

I had a feeling cent was going to suffer the most from the parry changes, so many cents would just turtle and wait to parry though, they were my least fun to fight against next to warden, who most people play the same way.

I think he could be balanced the way that HL was balanced though, more damage to some things, different effects on others, maybe make a few moves unblockable or uninterruptable. Like you said though, for now it might be best to pick someone else to use.

Oh right! I forgot they made that change. How much damage does it confirm?
is it more than cents heavy?

As I already mentioned I wanted his light parry punish gone.
And I like the fact that you can't get GB's from parries now.

Neither of which are important to my main point. Which is without his devistating punishes his weak kit is even more prominent now.
Maybe some centurions turtled up looking for that light parry punish. I didn't. I tried to always use most of his kit and mix soft feints with hard feints.
Now that I can't GB from a parry to pommel someone i've lost basically all pressure I had.

Far as I know only the OG roster is being touched in season 5. Highlander was the exception. But i'd love to be wrong.

Yeah I hated how optimal play was for him. I tried making use of his entire kit. Not just relying on his light parry punish. But now it doesn't feel like he even has a kit anymore.
I'm not sure a highlander like update would be enough. But it would help.

I've made countless suggestions about him before. But really they could just improve his entire gameplay with such simple changes. I just don't think they'd be willing to do them.

When I first heard about cent I was excited with the sword and fist brawler style game play. I was a little disappointed to find out his kit revolved around landing a charged jab and pouncing people, I think haymaker and hooks mixed in with sword play would of been a better route to take for him.
