Playing without map, a totally different experience

After 3 months of rest of this game I decided to start my third game but now without the map and I have to say after playing for two days on this way the experience is much better, even knowing the enemy bases almost by memory, without the map I feel a lot of tension and I like it, it feels like the olds Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter where you have the cross com but you never have a map that shows you exactly where are the enemies, I need to be very careful in hostile areas, look all the corners before cross them, now the drone and AI helps a lot locating enemies, with the map sometimes I didn't care to locate buchones or unidad patrols because I always saw the red or purple clouds. When I'm in a firefight have to be very careful watching my back and if I don't mark all the enemies the battles are a lot harder, the only issue with playing without map are the firefights in the jungles or forest, I can't see nothing and the buchones always know where exactly I'm, other than that, I truly recommend to play this game like the olds Ghost Recon games, without the map, without all the HUD I do not recommend it for what I just mentioned, the enemie always know where are you.

Well that's because GRAW isn't open world.

Mini map is a open world must have, because without it you don't have the GPS and without GPS it is hard to know where to go. You can always open the map of course but it makes it slow.

I hope they add a compass like the one they added to PVP, it would be alot better.

Honestly, considering how much drone jammers cripple your assessment of enemy placement, I actually think rebel spotting is far more useful than the map, your squad's awareness, or even your memory. It's also the only sure fire way of tagging enemies in vehicles to mark them for sync shots, including helis. So the ultimate challenge is playing with no map AND no rebel support.

I play without mini map - it's fine. Makes for a much more immersive experience.

But a compass would be nice.

Mini Map w/o Xmas lights is the way to go, without it, you need to drive even more than you do now... at least for me because I hate the driving part

I do the same thing (no AI cloud, minimap on). It's great to have the option to turn off the mini-map, but it's not so great when you're combing through a village looking for weapon attachments/medals. But if you're gotten all of those already, I definitely prefer as little UI as possible.

When I'm driving I just drive in straight line haha, but I always travel by helicopter, I select the point where I want to go and thats it, so far I have not needed the mini map at all and I'm loving playing like this.

I feel lonely when the whole screen is empty ... lol I also traveled by Helo but at the beginning you have to do a lot of driving so I got used to seeing the minimap there... it sure is a better companion than the blob squad

I don't know if anyone's mentioned it for this reason, but the main reason I can see having the minimap on to be a must, is you absolutely HAVE to glance at it briefly right after ordering a drop vehicle to know which direction to head, otherwise you may never find it. Had they not screwed up so badly on drop vehicle placements, I could totally see foregoing the minimap for more challenge. So IMO it's not so much a decision of what challenges you can or can't handle, to a large degree it's a a matter of some bad game design choices limiting you.

We've had discussion on the poor drop vehicle placement, and even a recent thread on it, yet I don't recall anyone representing Ubi ever offering to send it up the chain, or explain why it's so horribly bad and unpredictable. This is the ONLY game of the many that has a drop vehicle option that I recall sending you on a wild goose chase to get them, and it's a pretty important and often used feature, so quite annoying. We've also demonstrated via screenshots and videos how at times they can't even be used in the ridiculous places they're sometimes placed, and at times they even spawn on and kill the player.

I can deal with and have often explained how the squad AI limitations can be worked around, but this just seems totally inexcusable to have something as simple as drop vehicle spawn locations be so poorly implemented. It's a constant nuisance in the game that doesn't have to and should't be. Even if they were just to have the vehicle's smoke flare be larger and more visible, like a tall yellow plume or whatever, and present until you get to the vehicle, it would be a good start and a huge improvement.

I play with the mini map until i get to the location i want to go, once im there i hide it, however it gets annyoing,

Right now the way i [play is the only option to get around the map, the other option is to have always the minimap "off" and open the map every couple of seconds to see if you are going to the place you are suppose to go (which is more annoying)

A compass is a solution or atleast hide the enemy position on the minimap.
