There are no rookie players left in PC. Everyone is good or really good. Might as well be playing level 5 bots

Absolutely no reason not to jump back in. Yes, you can do the campaign, but you can also play all the modes online with players versus AI and get plenty of basic practice there as well.

If you don’t jump into a bunch of pvp matches, your official skill rank won’t increase, which means you will stay paired with newer players in PvsAI longer.

Go for the new PvE Mode. It is exciting and fun. And the bots are not that hard.

Not for pc version. Nowhere close to those numbers. Maybe all platforms combined. The pc player base is very small.

PC versions of games always fluctuate more, numbers wise. PC gamers tend to have a much wider variety of games available to them at any time through services like Steam, or GoG.
But counter to that, sites like Steam Charts are not as accurate as most people believe. These days it's common to hear numbers like 2500 players on PC getting thrown around, but it's absolutely much higher than that. Distributing 1 million players across 3 platforms leaves, possibly, tens of thousands of players on PC a few times a day at least.

PC definitely has the smallest playerbase, no question there, but it's not less than 3000 players.

The PC player number most often cited by critics is around 2500-3000, but the only source for this is Steam Charts, a third party website that can't gather information from all PC users, meaning it's not taking into account players launching For Honor exclusively through Uplay for example.

The rather sudden and severe way the internet turned on For Honor actually surprised me. It's like hating the game because a sport. And it's not like it was some grand franchise that spun itself out doing yearly sequels. It's a one of a kind, first of its type fantasy fighting game. So much to love. But no...a little patience and is too much to ask for the internet.

I've seen more reaching for things to complain about in this community than the Scrat and his godamn acorn.

But to answer the OP. Not difficult at all. Pick it up and start playing. Go in without expectation and take it slow. All the amazing cool things you'll experience and discover in the first week are either a waste of time or bad ideas. But stay at it, talk to people in matches, ask for tips. Contrary to popular opinion, most For Honor players are really cool and they'll happily show you the ropes. Join a discord server if you're on PC and get someone to tutor you for a bit. It's a lot of fun just having that experience. This is a very personal game.
