That's where custom skins used to be nice. Back in the olden days.
But seriously, what's the point of having half a dozen skins of the same gun?
You want a Mosin in the game, there is a Mosin in the game.
A cooler game could include guns like that if your Ghosts were operating on scarce resources behind enemy lines with no resupply but then we'd all steal MSRs from Unidad but what is the point of a WWI bolt action and a WWII bolt action?
I'll happily admit I was stoked to get my hands on the Baker rifle in Sniper Ghost Warrior to snipe guys old school, until it turned out to be a non playable item. That sucked. But I really don't see the need or attraction to ANOTHER bolt action, and one inferior to a bunch of others, for for no real purpose.
That's a modern Moisin. Not the WWII model that I really like.
But how can you ask what's the purpose? Then why did they bother at all with the Vintage weapon packs..? Clearly people bought them.
Sheesh, what's the purpose of a whole load of stuff people have asked for? All the aesthetic and cosmetic stuff, it has even no actual impact on gameplay whatsoever.
I guess it just because some folks like it. It's that simple.
I really like WWII bolt action rifles. Slower loading, more skill involved.
I also role play different characters. One of my characters only uses the vintage weapons.
For me, creates a totally different dynamic and feel to the combat.
Don't even get me started on the idiocy that is the matchlock rifle and stupid things like that. It is idiotic. But it is behind a paywall so if you want it you can get it.
The Mosin in the game is the same as the WWII one, it is just in a new stock. The bolt will cycle at the same speed. It won't be much different.
True it is scoped, so it is closer to a PU than a straight up Mosin and like I said in my previous post I can understand the want in a game for a gun like that but in a world with attack helicopters, night vision and drones is there really a place for an iron sighted, bolt action 5 shot rifle? The 416 you start with and the M40 you pick up after the first storyline mission are better guns.
A TC turning Bolivia into WWII Europe, or 1950 Korea could be awesome, and the correct place for those weapons.
They are better guns. But I think your missing my point.Originally Posted by Kayback2 Go to original post
I'm requesting them to use, NOT because they are superior firearms (obviously). But because I like them and they contribute to a different dynamic In combat, which I appreciate.
Plus like I said I 'role play' a female rebel character, that starts off with say her families old vintage weapons, not having access to more modern firearms.
That's an easy mod for almost any pistol as you just have to swap out the barrel for one with a threaded muzzle, so I think it can be excused.Originally Posted by Kean_1 Go to original post
I'm aware but that in itself isn't the issue. You need to read that quote in the context of the entire message about the gun itself being out of place in this game. The point being, what sense does a rail and threaded barrel make on what is essentially an early A1 variant of the 1911. ....think GI sights, GI grip safety, etc.Originally Posted by Ghost416 Go to original post
These modern variants of the 1911 would be more inline with what you might see used by U.S forces:
