What am I doing wrong?
First time poster. I've been enjoying this game so far, but I'm starting to hit a wall and am nearly frustrated enough to walk away. I'm a level 8 and am completely stuck on the Grand Wizard Cartman stage. No combination of cards will let me get him halfway down before he annihilates me, so I've been playing mostly PVP matches to build and level. Another brick wall here, as I feel like I'm losing more than 80% of the matches I'm in. Just today, I've gone from 2/3 stars in rank 15 down to 1/3 on rank 12. I'm all for games that put up a challenge but nobody anywhere is going to invest time into something with a success rate like that.
So what am I not doing right?

Re: what ur doing wrong
There are actually several minute mechanics that ur probably not making urself fully aware of while playing the game. Also it is MOSTLY in the way that you actually PLAY your cards that victory is attained...pumping mad loot into the game to hyperlevel ur cards quickly also doesn't hurt😉

What are you doing wrong?
Playing it at all!
You are wasting your time with this game!

To beat grand wizard cartman you need carts like, nathan, pirate ship or catapult, .. ranged works really well.
Getting close with fighters is generally a bad idea because of the immense damage cartman does.
Also zen cartman is a good tank thats slow to soak damage from your attackers.
Generally play the game for a lil longer, you will get there.
The beginning curve can be hard... it also was really hard for myself..
But once you upgrade your cards a few times it gets better
no worries!

hi btherr18,
what you are experiencing is normal for this game. Unpleasant, but normal.
I got to stage 60 at around lvl 8 and no combination of cards allowed me to beat him. I had to grind PvP until i was level 10 and at that point my cards were leveled up enough to take a game off Cartman. I was fortunate enough to have a manbearpig, which helped alot, though i've completed the stage again subsequently without that card.
One thing that helped me a lot was managing when to take hits and lose a life bar in order to save energy. My goal was to make it to Cartman having lost at most 1 life bar.
Getting rid of that annoying zapper staff before Cartman introduces himself was also a must. Using fast cards like smuggler ike, bandita sally, astronaut butters, or even rat swarm will help kill that staff quickly if you time it just right.
It helps if you drop your cards towards the bottom of the screen, as opposed to the top.
After the zapper, you should focus down the immortality fountains one at a time. I suggest doing the bottom one first.
It took me nearly as long to beat cartman as it did to get up to that stage in the first place. As i mentioned, i had to grind and level up 2 ranks (up to rank 10), in order to beat him.

This player is heavily over-leveled, but his guide is still useful to get an idea of how to tackle the stage.
The plateauing effect in PvP is Ubisoft's gimmicky way of incentivizing players to spend money to move ahead in this game. A pretty slimy tactic. However, it's not impossible to move ahead while staying completely free-to-play. I've managed to get up to rank 48, free-to-play, and am close to upgrading my first level 6 card. I started playing at the end of last November.
Good luck!
