I dont see the point of limiting reps. Let's say I have a rep 1000 Valkyrie, but the max rep is 40, going to 50. How are people supposed to know that I'm a very experienced Valkyrie who's rep 1000? Not only that but because I'm Rep "1000" my account is only rep 40.

That's one hell of a paradox you've made there mate. By the virtue of 40 being the max, that is the indicator of your experience with any particular hero.
Rep 40 tells other players that you play any specific hero almost exclusively. Increasing the cap to 50 is largely done to further end game progression for people who main fewer heroes, but it's not like these players are absolute crap, and only have an epiphany leading to greatness once they hit Rep 50.

Removing, or not-limiting the cap to showcase your experience with a hero is just rather pointless. A hypothetical Rep 1000 player will not be Godlike compared to a Rep 40, so why bother with such a drastic distinction?
If this is about you wanting a higher Rep level for your account, you gotta play other heroes dude.

But that's the thing!! Why should I play other characters when my two favourite are Valkyrie and shugoki. By limiting the reps, the game forces me to play other chars just to level up. Although rep 40 is still a very high level, and it makes us know people who are rep 40 are very experienced with that char, it still doesn't change the fact that he (or me) could be such a higher rep, people would be more scared of a rep 1000 then a rep 40, (obviously rep 1000 isn't possible, but its a good example)
