I like to run solo in the DZ, usually avoiding teams of Rogues unless I've got friend on or am rogue already myself. But I was thinking that a new event/mechanic involving Hunters that could spice things up and make things more challenging for Rogues and easier on noobs not looking to get ganked in the DZ.
So the basic concept is two fold. First, Hunters will spawn at a certain point in time to "hunt" Rogue agents. These Hunters will only target Rogue agents, and will be more likely to spawn and hunt groups of Rogues than a singular agent. When Hunters have spawned a notification will alert the Rogues. This mechanic will be based on the resistance/opposition that Rogue player is facing in terms of non-rogues actively fighting them, so if the server is full of people actively fighting Rogues then no Hunters will spawn. However, when a Manhunt is activated a set of Hunters will automatically spawn at the Manhunt point, and actively try and Hunt down the Manhunt triggered agents.
These Manhunt Hunters will have all the abilities of regular Hunters will increased health and non-regenerating armor. Things should be more challenging for players who reached Manhunt status.
The second concept involving the Hunters is a mini event similar to Contamination Events. In this instance Hunters will spawn in groups and roam the above ground portions of the DZ actively hunting ALL agents. Groups will be marked on the map and will hunt down the closet agents (prioritizing parties) available to them. These are just normal Hunters.
The problem with the hunter idea is it forces rogues into pve when they want pvp but i get the idea of hunters helping non rogues when they are out numbered, the problem is being out numbered doesnt mean you are not the better team. Also hunters at a manhunt terminal is no good because most times there is already a bunch of players waiting.
I get this. However, I would like to suggest the following. Due to the nature of the DZ, PVE players are forced in PVP at times. I'm not complaining. I'm a carebear...I prefer PVE, but I am not adverse to PVP. Someone shoots at me - I'm gonna shoot back. I might lose, but I will shoot back.Originally Posted by Garyfairbrass Go to original post
These hunters may force some PVP players into PVE but that's the DZ.
I do agree with your point about the manhunt terminals. It would be unfair to have the hunters on the side of non-rogues. So I suggest the hunters show up and F EVERYBODY up (edit: as OP points out).
That's a good point. How could this be balanced? I like OP's idea. However many ways we can get Hunters in to just F crap up is fine with me.Originally Posted by mckrackin5324 Go to original post
Well that's kind of the point. If you want to just PvP then go play Skirmish. As it stands right now, mobs in the DZ won't chase you once you get out of their line of sight. There's plenty of times where Rogues will enter a server and just obliterate it because they have better gear and are roaming in a group of four well coordinated people. To fix that, you add the Hunters to tip the scales back.Originally Posted by Garyfairbrass Go to original post
It's not really a stealth buff. Rogues are more likely to take/have an advantage on single player players or weak teams they can outnumber. It's very rare you see one person go rogue and try and mop the floor with a team of four people. This mechanic makes it so it's tougher for Rogues to grief an entire server while also giving them more opportunities for rewards. And even beyond that, it adds another mini-event you can participate in to gain more loot against one of the best enemies in the game.Originally Posted by mckrackin5324 Go to original post
