Why is Threat still off?
My team consists of
A Striker. Decreased thread on weapon.
A D3. Increased threat on shield and weapon.
A Tactician. -41% Decreased threat.
Guess who every shotgunner. Axe murderer. Golf club swinger runs to/focus on in every match over the course of about 4 hours? This happens when playing with randoms also.
Clue, it ain’t the D3.
So what hidden mechanic is inside Tac to get focus fired by every rusher in the game?
Or should I asked. Why doesn’t D3 cause agro like it is described too?
And yes I am getting a little cheesed off with it now.
Yeah, threat is wrecked.
As others have noted, it seems to be that the game decides at a specific point (mission start, maybe?) who has the greatest Threat rating, and holds to that. I've been in the back row of a group, still getting set up, with weapons festooned with suppressors (I love suppressors), while other players have already started shooting with their loud vent brakes, and had the entire NPC group surge past the other three players displaying a rabid desire to tear me to shreds.
Other times, not.
The threat mechanic has nothing to do with actual threat values, so just play with whatever mods you want.![]()

That answer should be pretty easy to figure out. hahahaha
Yeah when any event/player wake up the AI they all seem to go for one player chosen by who knows what but doesn't seem to have any connection to on paper threat level or who was responsible for the action that put them into a combat state.
Not much point trying to decrease threat as a squishy build if the fact you are squishy or whatever that seems to count in the evaluation over-rides any of that :s
I remember seeing, sometime around 1.4, IIRC, that someone made a video (I want to say it was one of the devs, but I could be wrong...maybe it was a youtuber), showing that threat actually did work, and wasn't broken. (If I'm not mistaken, specific work had been done to fix the threat functionality around that time.) I don't remember the content exactly, but I want to say it showed something like two guys standing in the street, one with high and the other with low threat, and the majority of enemies focused on the higher threat. I remember them making the point that it's not absolute, i.e. other things are involved in threat assessment, including proximity and I'm not sure what else.
Would be interesting to hear from the devs on this, as to whether things are working as intended.
