As it stands I've have noticed this tactic popping up more and more often in matches. Its origins I suspect are from the many arcade shooter titles out there, and In my opinion does not belong in a tactical shooter; for many reasons.
Drop-shotting is the action of spamming prone when faced with an unfavourable head on engagement. So your character essentially instantly drops to all fours while being able to continue to shoot an uncompromised stream of bullets in whatever direction you wish.
Make no mistake I have no problem with taking a knee but even that should have some sort of recoil/sway penalty for the first few seconds.
I rarely have problems with handling players that do this but have seen many complain about it and with good reason. It has no place in a tactical shooter like this for the following reasons.
1. This is not an arcade shooter like some other titles we won't name here. It has 0 aspect of realism aside from trying to make yourself a smaller target.
2. Even for highly skilled operators to go from full standing position to completely prone instantly while continuing to fire an uncompromised stream of bullets at your target is impossible. Consider the gear and weight they are carrying, consider the shock from hitting the ground from instantly going prone etc...
Essentially what I'm suggesting is adding a short recoil penalty so that you cannot continue firing with pinpoint accuracy while doing this.
I will have more to add tomorrow, right now its late and need to sleep.
I mentioned this within the first month of release, and I got the typical "git gud" answer
There definitely needs to be an accuracy penalty for going prone. The accuracy will get back to normal within 1 second.
Furthermore if any dive or roll animations are added, they need to carefully add some accuracy penalties for the end of these animations as well.
Proud Mary(Taraji) doesn’t have a problem doing it in her movie lol. Not trying to be a butt hole but it’s been a tactic in GR for a while now. Remember in GRAW2 how you run then you do the dive to the ground then shoot. Since that point it’s been a popular thing. Overtime I seen a lot of players did it in later GR. I personally don’t do it because in the long run it leaves you vulnerable.
If you read enemy movements you can tell what they going to do and if you quick like me you will actually come up behind them and melee them when they attempt this. This is really successful if you flashbang them too. When they can’t see they will prone. 100% chance to shoot or get a melee before the effect wears off. Still this just my opinion but this a playstyle you be taking away from many people so I don’t think it’s a big deal in my opinion. It’s a old school veteran move lol

That's an example of someone using it in a pro league match. As you see, even though he was engaged first, was low on health, when he went prone it saved him from dying and was able to take out his enemy instead.

Honestly don't know what to think about that.
I saw this all the time when going against elites in ranked, last season. Often encountered it in QM against P10 squads.
All the pro/elitist (not talking rank) players use all the dirty tactics that are on offer. Anything for the win. One of the many reasons I look at the high KDR/WLR players with suspicion.
Cool, I can pass this on to the team.Originally Posted by Pro.Joker Go to original post
Please feel free to chime in everyone, whether you've been making use of the ability to drop shot or you also take issue with it.
