I stumbled upon(yes totally stumbled upon) a video called 'Patch 1.8 Gear Set Tier List' by 'MarcoStyle'(not sponsored in any way, shape, or form)
This is his tier list. (if you want to watch his video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=30BPP9UNKZc )(Again, not sponsored)
Tier 1:
Striker's Battlegear: Healing, Armor Destruction, High DPS
Path of the Nomad: Super Tanky, RNG-based
Reclaimer: Health bonus, Quick healing
Final Measure: Defuses Grenades, Overpowered buffs
D3-FNC: Shield buff, Usage of SMG, buff affects team
Tier 2:
Hunter's Faith: One-shot potential, Only headshots do noticeable damage
Lone Star: High burst damage, Squishy, RNG
Predator's Mark: Lower burst damage, countered by immunity
DeadEYE: High boost, very situational boost
Tier 3:
Tactician's Authority: Getting max stacks is hard, cannot spam skills to get stacks
Banshee's Shadow: Dark-Zone specific, good for loot, Situational boost
Tier 4:
Sentry's Call: Disabled in PvP, Shield Nerf, DeadEYE is better. Hunter's Faith is better
FireCrest: Damage lowered, Self-burn
AlphaBridge: Cannot be ulted by teammates, Directly countered by Nomad, Countered by all gearsets
So, what do you think about his list?
He makes some good points, but as he stresses at the beginning of the video, this is purely his opinion.
I don't PVP at all, so a lot of the issues with a lot of the sets don't apply to me. I'd been running a 6 piece striker for a while, which was great, but after getting a complete Firecrest in the last event I've been having a lot of fun with it.
I think it's a good video for someone new to the game who really has no idea what they're looking at.
Marco is the game's resident mathematician and Factician.
He is rarely wrong on the straight up facts.
He's a very good player with a very good squad. His opinions are always relevant.
He has a strong bias towards Reclaimer and Striker and most of his suggestions are to benefit that play style but he makes good suggestions overall.
I would add a tier 0 just for striker as it stands alone as the best build in the game, hands down.
Crazy damage? Check
Toughness? Check
Increased stability to make even the Bullfrog easy to handle without any stability mods? Check
Big increase to enemy armor damage so it's fantastic against NPCs as well? Check
Self-healing that rivals a 9k electronics reclaimer build so you don't have to invest anything into skill power to have amazing sustain? Yep got that too...
It may not be the absolute best set in every situation but it's the best in most and second best in every other. That's why everyone is using this set right now.
