Why doesn't this recommendation appear as you are making a purchase, or appear on the store page before you steal our money without us having to search online to find a solution then stumbling across the recommendation for a problem god only knows how many customers have fallen foul to.

This sounds like a bad joke overall. First of all why is AC available in Steam to begin with when you use your own Launcher. Basically you need a launcher that launch another launcher that launch the game, do you see the irony in this?

Now I do not suffer from this travesty because I use Uplay solely, but wife has AC:Origins on Steam and accidentally purchased hidden ones on Uplay so now she needs to fight for a refund for something that shouldn't had to be a problem to begin with if the coders had done the cross platform fix properly.

Ubisoft DLC not compatible with Steam game?

I'm having the same issue. Just bought Season Pass on Ubisoft, and when I'm in-game and go to the store, it says Season Pass is installed and that I own The Hidden Ones and Curse of the Pharao, but when I scroll over those, it says left-click to download, which then opens Steam in a browser window. I can't download the content and instead am asked to purchase it.

I guess I'll now have to ask Ubisoft to return my money and then purchase Season Pass again on Steam? Never mind that Season Pass is more than twice as expensive on Steam.

This is extremely frustrating. There should be a warning to buyers of the DLC to make sure that they're buying it on the same platform as the original game or otherwise they may run into compatibility issues.

    Hey NikiPl69,

Regrettably, DLC must be bought for the same service that you own the game on. If you own the game on Steam on, all DLC purchases must be made from Steam.

    Apologies for any inconvenience,

This makes no sense. I just bought DLC for origins thru Ubisoft store via their website. I see content in game as OWNED but I cant install and it brings me to steam store page.

Since Uplay Connect launcher is needed along with a Uplay account in order to launch and play Ubisoft games. It does not make sense that buying content for a game within that system it still cant be installed?

You are still buying content with your Uplay account and still have to use Uplay software to run the game. That content should be unlocked regardless of the other game launchers since its still being run within the Uplay ecosystem.

Plus, there was no warning at all on the Ubisoft store prior to purchase about compatibility. Plus the support page about compatibility is very vague. So when you are buying things on the ubisoft store for your ubisoft account you would think there should be no issues. It is very misleading and bad business.

I have already opened a ticket and hopefully this will be resolved soon. I understand ubisoft policy on DLC refunds but their support should at least hand out steam activation codes for this OR have a warning about DLC using Steam PRIOR to finalizing the purchase. That makes most sense.

If Ubisoft does not correct the issue or refund the purchase I can easily dispute it thru my bank so there is no worries there. Hopefully Ubisoft will update the way things are handled as its really bad and makes for a poor experience.

The issue here is Stupid Steam DRM system

You buy game on Steam, the Steam DRM take priority over Ubisoft connect for authenticating the game
And when you buy DLC for from Ubi-store, Steam does not know you own it, despite you have activate the DLC on Ubisoft connect.

    You must be blind !!

In Ubi store, It clearly state under the Add to cart button

Warning: This content requires the base game purchased through Ubisoft Connect for PC or the Ubisoft Store in order to run.

Uh, no, no it does not. Only lists you need base game on PC in order to play. SS below.

Steam or not. Its within the same network as you are forced to launch ubisoft software and account in order to run and play game. So again, its same ecosystem.

Anyway, Ubisoft is issuing me a refund so issue is closed.

    Hello everyone!

I'm sorry to read you purchased the Season Pass and it didn't work due to owning the game in Steam.

As KmarkoPL mentioned, the following quote is mentioned on the Ubisoft Store "Warning: This content requires the base game purchased through Ubisoft Connect for PC or the Ubisoft Store in order to run.", though the wording may be slightly different depending on the store.

We will always pursue a refund players if they purchased DLC they are unable to use.

    Enjoy your day!
