I think it's time to address this issue now that Highlander will be getting multiple buffs next season. His kick is and will be a 50/50 in the next update that confirms an UB heavy (40 damage next season) while being unpunishable if dodged correctly.
His Caber Toss is punishable with a GB but for some reason his kick is not and that's just weird considering he can just soft-feint it into a Caber Toss.
It should be unsafe if dodged.
This game has no 50/50's. At least in the traditional sense. The game would explode if people were actually forced to guess anything.
I believe on the den they said that you can still dodge the mix up. You just need different timing now. Because before dodging the kick let you dodge the toss as well. Now i'm assuming you'll need seperate timings to dodge the 2 moves. I can't speak on punishes. But i'm pretty sure raider can dodge and GB. and dash attacks should be able to. unless cabars toss takes priority. I forget.

His kick is unpunishable for chars without dash attacks. I have countered GBs after a missed kick and people have countered my GBs after I dodged their kick.
@Knight_Raime You can delay the Caber Toss a tiny bit and it catches people who dodge the kick. If you do it instantly it won't. Caber toss counters Raider's dash>GB, yes.
Conq's shield bash only guarantees a light attack so it's not a huge deal. Cent's kick is unsafe unless he follows up with an uncharged heavy and again, it only guarantees a light attack. HL's kick/Caber Toss guarantee 40 damage next season.. that's a tiny bit more than just one light attack.
I guess I'll just roll away to evade the whole mix-up ...

Lol... You want everything done for you smh. What character are you complaining for exactly that can't punish highlanders kick? It's fine how it is even with all the buffs... and before you say somebody like shugoki, Highlander vs Shugoki mu is all about patience. Hard for either to really get going against each other.
If they have any type of dodge attack use it... If they have hidden stance use it, if they are like warlord you can headbutt them before they can kick you, if you dodge you actually put them in an uncomfortable position and you can either GB or headbutt them, if you are shugoki free grab lol. if you are warden shoulder bash...
Centurion is the odd one out but he can actually mix it up really well with heavy mind games and throw kicks of his own to keep pressure on highlander to the point he can't punish a centurion kick if dodged.
The part of this mu comes down to starting off highlander in Offensive Stance vs Centurion... Defensive stance is TERRIBLE vs Centurion, you will get blown up. but offensive stance vs centurion is all about mind games...
Centurion will go for kick, highlander dodges in offensive stance and from there can do offensive light or wait for incoming heavy from centurion after kick to catch highlander, and highlander would probably end up dodging. Now in Centurions case he can either go for immediate heavy to catch highlander or feint heavy into GB to catch him dodging again. If Centurion ends up being smacked by offensive light, you will have time to actually throw out a heavy before Highlanders kick even gets off and with new parry changes Parrying Centurions heavies will only grant you a light attack... And by the way Highlander lights or offensive lights don't lead into a true 50/50 with kick, You either have to land crushing counter, unblockable attack or any version of his heavies to make it to where they actually have to respond to 50/50. Now that you know that, his kick shouldn't be an issue... Just your knowledge of characters. Every character can do something about highlanders kick.
Highlander will still have no safe openers, his lights get parties often and are easy deflects for good assassins.
All this buff gave him is the damage he should have had since his release, and more range to his caber toss which some people avoid by dodging his kick before it is feinted, which defeats the purpose of the mixup.
I'm not sure how much impact the stamina regen in offensive stance will have but I'm sure HL will still have have to back off and reset at least once per fight. Unless you get hit by nearly every attack.
