Finally give up on this boring game

I bought the season pass update in the hope the game play had improve but it didn't. I went back to the main campaign mode as well but a few hours in dealing with random spawning AI I've given up. I play in single player mode and the maps and locations are beautifully modeled and the game looks superb on a wide screen 21:9 monitor. But the game play is so flawed. I can't lean to shoot, you walk into a large base and its almost deserted of AI until you trigger an alarm and suddenly you are swamped by randomly spawning AI. Sometimes there is no reason for the alarm to be triggered its seems at times almost a random event. The game play structure is poor even after all these updates. I also just uninstalled The Division whose Survival DLC I liked but the developers never expended on that DLC just the rest of the monotonous game. I quite enjoyed the recent AC Origins game but that was mainly due to the excellent map, the game play was also repetitive and I'm not buying the DLCs. I think like a lot of players we look forward to Ubisoft AAA titles such as FarCry 5 but after being burnt so often on the boring game play issues I'm starting to get frustrated with these games.

I think what's more frustrating is so many man hours are put into making these great open play environments that the game play side is almost a tacked on after thought. It feels like they spend 2-3 years making the maps and game assets, then spend a couple on months creating a crap game out of it and then quickly move onto the next game. It's a shame Ubisoft game developers can't open up these games environments and assets for other developers to use.

I can see where it can get tedious playing 3 or 4 different games that pretty much play the same, more so when they are from the same publisher. Hopefully the trend will stop soon, although I seriously doubt it, and they will go back to making each game unique.

Reading from your post, it seems that you're just a bad player and possibly was already sour to start this game due to your bad experience in another Ubi game. You don't even know what causes alarms to be triggered.

And you also sound like someone who play linear game that tells you what to do now and after and hence you fell into doing things repetitively yourself. You just don't belong in this game and those games you mentioned.

What puzzles me is if you found the core gameplay boring, why on Earth would you buy the DLC? .....especially at this point given all of the reviews, in-game footage, etc. that is available on the internet?

I'm not going to argue the point you make about your feelings regarding the game (this is all personal opinion), but some of you other remarks are flat out incorrect about the game mechanics as Kane pointed out.

Barring some glitch or issue you may be experiencing, large bases are not deserted. Enemy AI do populate these locations including inside buildings, hangars, etc.. However, being discovered or triggering an alarm will bring these forces out of their normal patrolling areas and they will react based on their alert level. Reinforcements will also arrive (rather quickly) in progressively tougher waves if the alarms are not disabled. Your settings will also have an effect on this mechanic.

As for the alarms themselves, they are set off by being triggered. .....not by some random event unless that event happens to be (for example) another faction engaging the inhabitants of the base. In most cases however, the reason an alarm is triggered is all on you either being spotted, heard, etc.

It sounds like you liked very little in this game. Next time I would suggest you watch as much in-game footage before pulling the trigger. Far Cry 5 for example.... If you're interested in the game but are unsure if you'll like it, make sure to try out the beta if they have one. There are already numerous reviews as well out there of pre-release gameplay footage. Join discussions in the game forums. .....etc. Maybe even wait a month or two for more footage to be released of the finished game before you decide.

    Sorry I have to agree.

Listen I hear you're frustrated with the game, and it's always more annoying when a game gets some things right but there's other problems that you just can't ignore and end up ruining the game for you..

I hate that. I'm sure we've all experienced that.

But what you wrote, like Kane, I don't relate. I think GRW is pretty solid experience. Alarms trigger because you screw up, or neglected to take a generator out?
Also randomly spawning enemies? Only ever see that in 'defend the radio' side quest.

I love GRW. I think the weakest part is the Squad AI, but thankfully IMO they are not game breaking. You can tell them to HOLD and you can move alone within 500m radius from them (or they respawn near you) and play the game effectively Solo.

I've got no real major complaints, just minor ones. Sure there's a few things I would like to be added. But no big issues with the game.

    I'm sorry you clearly have..

Totally agree LaMOi. I have my issues with the game, but I've never invested this much time in one game.

This game is not boring. It's like a really hot girlfriend who is annoying as f*$#. Cant help but keep playing.

Keep playing wildlands and keep pushing for improvements.

Yes, you can. When you're next to an edge, a small white arrow will appear on screen. When you see this arrow, just press the aim button and Nomad will lean out to fire.

I guess you bought both games DLC (GRW and The Division).

You played, it was at your taste and you uninstall, that's money put out at waste.

That's a cover lean. We should take it as read that players asking for a lean feature mean a free lean that doesn't require you to be stuck on cover.

What's the point of leaning if you aren't behind cover, then?
