Here I'm giving an input to improvise the current Squad Command as well as the button and UI mapping.
1. Individual Command.
When the cursor is pointed at the Squad Command side, we can press Left and Right to scroll through our AI Teammate Name list in order to give individual order to the particular character which will make the command only valid for the highlighted character.
2. Sub-Command Trees
Currently we have 4 commands: Fire, Hold, Go To, and Regroup. My suggestion is to add extra commands on the line of these 4 commands. When the specific command is highlight, we can press Up and Down to scroll through the Sub-Commands in each Command tree.
My suggested sub-commands are as the following:
> Fire < (to do the default Fire command)
- Cease Fire (to command Ghost to stop firing at once)
- Support (to focus more on reviving)
- Diversion (appoint selected Ghost to create noise at will)
> Hold < (to do the default Hold command)
- Hold and Fire (to hold at last spot while firing from that position)
- Hold and Recon (to hold at the last spot and recon for hostiles and supplies within small radius or narrow cone of sight)
> Go To < (to do the default Go To command)
- Go To and Distract (appoint selected Ghost to create noise at specific area)
- Go To and Recon (appoint selected Ghost to head to specific area and recon for hostiles and supplies within small radius or narrow cone of sight)
> Regroup < (to do the default Regroup command)
- Follow (to command Ghost to closely follow wherever the Player goes)
This concludes my suggestion. Hopefully can be improvised or balanced and may happen in the future updates.
Thanks.
Great suggestions, kane_sg.
I was thinking similar things and was going for
Fire (becomes ROE) - Shoot on sight, Return Fire, Recon Only/Cease fire, Suppress
Hold (becomes FORMATION) - Hold position, Regroup, Combat Spread, Tight
Goto (becomes MOVE) - Go to next way point, Goto the objective, Drive my vehicle, Follow Target
Regroup (now becomes free as the SQUAD command ) - All, Midas, Weaver, Holt
Tbe distract command is a really good idea as is the support.
Yes this needs to be implemented just like this that's all but I agree that they need to fix the AI awarenessOriginally Posted by Kane_sg Go to original post

Also, I don't know if within the "Awareness of the AI" it is included the fact that, at least for me personally, right now giving them the "Fire " command is like watching a movie because they are doing all of the shooting while I am taking cover or not getting into the shooting myself... what is the fun in that?
The way the AI is coded or programmed right now, we can have many other commands and I think that frustration will be even at a higher level than what it is now.
Being said that, what I was expecting when they said they wanted us to have the Proper GR experience, was something like what Kean is suggesting.
The problem with the AI awarness is that they are programmed to be sidekicks since there are no tactical possibilities. You see how good their awarness gets when getting the 'Fire!' order. You see how little damage AI vs AI do in all other situations. All of that is probably limited to make the player the centerpiece of the action. Enemies will always rather go on the human player than allies. That keeps also the player in the middle of the battle and aware of most of the things happening since there is no real tactical gameplay involving AI.
Playing COOP you will notice that a well synced 3 men team already becomes overpowered in most missions. 2 guys playing well together can finish any mission as easy as single player + syncshots. Would the AI have more controll and do regular damage the whole game would be a lot easier.
Hi Kane_sg,
I was wondering about this for a long tie now, the solution you propose is very interesting. From a technical point of view essentially it was challenging to find how a single player could command IA men with a command wheel. You solution is very ergonomic and doesn't really change how we already use the team. I would like to ask you what would be your opinion about adding a second fireteam, and how would it be controlled? should it be controlled as an entire unit 'as we already do), or should it broken into individuals?
Otherwise, I think your answer in adressing the individual order wheel is a real ergonomic solution and doesn't mean an entire revamp of the order system.
Thank you for sharing that with us,
Best,
L.
