Ubisoft has announced a bizarre trio of DLC packs coming as part of Far Cry 5's season pass.
The first DLC will be set in Vietnam and pit you against the Viet Cong. The second will be a B-movie-inspired zombies pack. The last will be set on Mars, where you fight alien arachnids.
- Hours of Darkness: Players will travel back in time to Vietnam to battle against Việt Cộng soldiers
- Dead Living Zombies: Players will face hordes of zombies in multiple b-movie scenarios
- Lost on Mars: Players will leave Earth behind to go toe-to-claws with Martian arachnids
As a reminder, Far Cry 5 is set in present day Montana, USA.
And that's not all - the season pass also includes a downloadable copy of the series' high point to date: Far Cry 3, AKA the one with Vaas.
Ubisoft will release Far Cry 3 for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One this summer, but Far Cry 5 owners get the game a month early as part of the season pass.
Today also brings a new story trailer for Far Cry 5. See it below:

Would I like to see the option to be able to make Vaas as a playable character in FC5 - Sure who wouldn't - here's hoping.
In the past DLC content didn't carry over to the editor, but considering that this news was just released, I'm very doubtful we'll get a comment on it right now. We don't even really know anything about the editor for the vanilla game except that it's been enhanced from previous games, as has always been the case.Originally Posted by GRAW2ROBZ Go to original post
I'm sure we all hope it does carry over, though.
Now wait one... Is this saying these will be the only three official DLC’s for FC5?... or will there be other DLC’s that actually relate to the original theme of Far Cry 5 in the USA? If Vietnam, Zombies, and Mars are it for the Far Cry 5 Season Pass, then I am not sure I even want the Season Pass (...and I am a Vietnam Combat Veteran). Sorry, but this will not fly with me at all if this is all there is for the FC5 DLC’s. Not worth the money at all! I will have to consider cancelling the Gold Edition and going back to the Deluxe Edition.
Agreed..... Color me unimpressed with this news. Looks like I will just be buying the core game.Originally Posted by Lex_Striker Go to original post
I made the mistake of buying the season pass for GRW. After the Narco Road fiasco and divorced nature of both NR & FG, I'm really gunshy when it comes to DLCs from Ubi.
I buy these games because I like the core gameplay. I much prefer DLC that adds to that. If anything, I will wait a few months for it to go on sale (if I'm hard up for something to play) or they offer it for free.
Even if you guys don't like the thoughts of Mars or Zombies I would expect Vietnam to be worth looking at if you can buy these on their own, that location would be superb IMO.
As for FC5 Themed content they have a book coming out called Absolution that is all about the events leading up to FC5's story so who knows they might even have some DLC in the pipeline that fits in with the book.
You can read about it HERE
I have already pre-purchased the book and look forward to reading it before playing FC5. However, these DLC's of Vietnam, Mars, and zombies look like crap just thrown together to get an extra $30 out of us. Sorry, that is not something I will buy. I was hoping they had something at least related to Montana, USA in the FC5 DLC's. The DLC's for Assassin's Creed Origins, Ghost Recon Wildlands, and Watch Dogs 2 at least were related to and built on the main game, regardless of their quality. If Vietnam, Mars, and Zombies are it for the FC5 DLC's, then that really sucks... IMO.
I'm still not sold personally. Sounds like others would be though which is great.Originally Posted by Fallen-Champ Go to original post
Beyond the themes which frankly don't interest me much in this game, my main sticking point is that that the DLC is something that adds to the core game/gameplay. I would much rather have DLC that expended on the main story, etc. These sound like 3 separate mini games completely unrelated to FC5.
I guess I'll chime in too. I have no interest in any of the 3. I have heard so many people asking for zombies but I have a suspicion they are a very small minority. I'm just thankful it was not part of the main game. So these being DLC makes sense, only those that like this stuff have to pay for it. And if you don't like it, simply don't buy it. I wouldn't expect to see any of it in the editor though.
Gives me the impression that the story of FC5 is a complete package and they're being a bit more experimental with the DLC, so I'm into it. I prefer when DLC is something different, at least now it doesn't feel like part of the FC5 campaign was cut to be sold later as DLC, which is what others would be complaining about if the content was directly related to FC5 and it's setting. This just convinced me to get the gold edition...
Exactly right? I mean, at least now it's far less likely they'll be making a full zombie oriented FC game ya know? I don't play zombie games, so I'm not as burnt out on them as other people, so I'm not super against playing zombie related stuff, because I haven't hardly played any in the past, so a short zombie themed DLC for me will probably be a lot of fun. It would be sweet if they added things like the viet cong & zombie enemy models to the editor though, and that doesn't seem to big of a stretch, but I wouldn't expect it either...Originally Posted by AKAFootloose Go to original post
