Firstly ALL games basically consist of the same trite objectives,

    1) Go to X
    2) Fetch X
    3) Kill X
    4) Destroy X

Etc etc... or slight variations of the above. But all the same.

What other games do is 'smoke and mirrors', dress up what amounts to the fairly banal above mentioned objectives with story, cutscenes, scripted set pieces....

    It really is BS.

At least GRW allows you to complete your objectives in what ever fashion you see fit, with a myriad of options to vary any approach.
There's very few fail states as well, and they are non linear.

I would argue not many games can actually claim that degree of freedom.
Which is still better than the trend in games of "follow us and kill everything, then follow us again".

GR has in the past had some neat tricks, multiple point room entry and synched takedowns. GRWL has set ups for that (radio station raids) but the AI is incapable of doing it.

They could also do a blend of the missions like the Intimidate the Sicario side missions. Sure I can kill 15 enemies and then beat some guy with a pistol or you can Agent 47 it and slip past 15 enemies and then decapitate the Sicario and leave him to be found. Or kidnap and extract him to get better intel or more resources or whatever. Fear levels vs resources vs intel but the game is fairly limited. Sadly

of course, but you could still do it. Have him cover a front door, while you go through the back door, for example.

And when you had them cover an area, they immediately slaughtered any enemy that appeared, no questions asked. None of this Ghost Recon nonsense like, "hey, they've shot you five times in the face boss. What should we do?" Lol

Yeah, true. Look, I would welcome a SOCOM-level of command system in GRW (SOCOM being a game series I played extensively in my PS2 days). I'm just as dissatisfied with the AI and lack of squad controls as everyone else, I just don't make new threads ranting about it every single day like everyone else.

No you don't but you sure let us know that you don't on every single one of them... thank you!

I've been doing a new play through. Trying to utilize my team ai but its pretty pointless unless you want them doing everything for you. The devs vision of your team adapting to your playstyle is laughable. We are stuck with useless ai.

From the dev Q&A back in May of last year:

In Ghost Recon Wildlands, the Ghosts are a 4-people elite Special Operation team sent behind enemy lines. This is part of the game’s fantasy, so we are not planning to disable the teammate AI or let the player control them.

While that is true, you guys also encourage people to keep giving feedback, hence, why I believe that people still cling to something that won't happen. That and there is nothing else to talk about so why not!

I honestly believe this needs a rethink. I know it was a contentious issue and I know that a decision had to be made or the game development would have stalled, but now is different. The trouble with the logic that the fantasy means the player will not be allowed to control the AI team is flawed for two reasons in my view.

    1) The player can already control them. We are just talking about the level of control and the game is capable of leaving the control as is, but also adding a deeper level as a sub menu on those commands if wanted
    2) The GR fantasy for the GR player is controlling the team. Their positions, their RoE, the angles from which they attack and plannng their paths were the essence of the GR single player experience.

This would be fantastic addition to Wildlands. Whilst we all know it is a small chance in this game now, it should be added to the next game.

May of last year. Most of us here have now finished the main storyline, more than once. We have used the extremely limited AI.

If we're STILL saying it is bad, then you know, it is probably bad.

The "vision" for the game probably also wasn't "player one sits back, synch shots a couple targets then presses 'fire at will' and the Terminators kill everything".

It may be time to re-evaluate.

My friend brought up a good point after we failed a mission so many times when we were playing together.

"Why, in this game, playing with AI friend is much easier than with actual players? It supposedly the other way around."
