A few of us including myself have long asked for the option to be added to the single player game to disable the Team AI if you wish.
Whether they will ever do it or not, I don't know.
But I was wondering what people's thoughts on this were?
Is the Team AI the worst thing about the Singleplayer experience?
It seems most criticism of the solo experience is focused around the Team AI...
So if you did have the option to turn them off, would people still have serious issues with the game?
What are they?
I for one, don't think I have any major problems with the game outside of the Team AI. Perhaps few minor gripes but nothing big.
Maybe the bullet drop on sniper rifles is a bit unrealistic. Some of the cars don't drive as well as others.
But like I said I can't think of any major criticism..?
I am annoyed by the lack of tactial possibilities that the AI squad offers. Removing them completely reduces those even further and does exactly the oposite of what I miss in the game. I didn't enjoy NR primarily because this type of game for me doesn't work as a 1 vs world experience. So a big 'No, thank you' for me. It doesn't fit the story, it doesn't adress the issues, and actually the squad does so little that it barely influences the game as it is and contrary to former popular opinions they don't even break stealth until you give them orders.
On the other hand - even if I personaly definitely wouldn't use the option - I wouldn't mind if Ubisoft would add a toggle on/off button, since to me it seems like just a small amount of work. I guess nobody would expect it to be balanced either, so playtesting beyond the functionability wouldn't be necessary.
The team ai is the only reason i turn this game off. There are other small gripes, but none that cause as much frustration as the team ai. Removing them completely isn't a fix id be happy with. I'd much prefer better commands, but that isn't happening. GRW is the only game ive ever loved as much as hated. I'm confined to my house from multiple injuries and GRW has givin me many many happy and very aggravating hours of gameplay. Fixing the ai with better commands, customizations ect would be great, but in the devs eyes the ai is fine as is.
I'm certainly not recommending we get rid of the Squad with regard to any future sequel.
But having the option to go Lone Wolf like the original games would be cool.
But for me, I have learned to find uses for the Team AI, I mean I don't find them completely redundant. But then I rarely set them to simply follow me, if ever.
But that said they are the weakest part of the single player - and I would love to play without them as a lone insurgent/lone sniper having live off his skill and wits alone - I'd like the challenge....
It would make for a much more coherent experience - in this game that is.
But yeah beyond the Team Ai I don't think I have an other serious complaints - it's generally a great game.
Yeah, but for me that isn't the feeling I am going for. I am not looking for a cinematic 1 man vs world game. As far fetched as the Ghost stories as a whole are (4 men cleaning up a whole nation... make it 12 and a couple more and I might start believing it) the missions itself are within what such a small team can accomplish.
