And yes, Sync shot can be very effective.

But like I said, and I'm sure you agree, to play the whole game like that would get boring.
Quite honestly I synch shot when I'm being lazy or if there is a squad of enemy patrolling in a group. Otherwise you can pretty much personally snipe who needs sniping.

That was almost open world in how you could do the missions. One I remember being a UDT/SEAL and having to remove 2 FOBs with MI24s. Snuck into the area, blew up the ZSU-23/4 Shilkas then stole the MI24s and blew the ever loving crap out of the enemy bases.

The problem with it was the world was mostly only populated in the mission area. There was nothing if you went too far away.

And the AI command was fairly clunky but you could set up decent ambushes. Once you got into the swing it was easier. And the AI had specific roles. "AT hit the BMP. Grenadier, UAZ 200m, fire for effect. Riflemen engage!".

    In Ghost Recon? "SHOOT!"
I spent a lot of time in the editor creating my own scenarios. The cool thing was that with enemy patrols/waypoints you set up, various states and different events you can create, the same scenario can be made to feel very random and unique.

You really had the be careful because you wouldn't know exactly where enemies were once you started playing. It became dynamic.

I played that game a lot by myself.

The Editor was fantastic. I even downloaded the WWII MOD... it was epic, I'd set up these massive tank infantry battles...

One of my favourite games of all time Cold War Crisis. Even the main missions were dynamic, never totally sure how things would play out.

This is encouraging lone wolf operations. You could do the same by calling Pak for reinforcements after being spotted.
If you had 2 squads you could position Bravo on the hill and use your squad to infiltrate the base. Then you have back up if it gets too hairy instead of a 300 meter infiltrate fully aware base rescue mission.
