    On Outbreak's Lootboxes:

Remember Overwatch's First event? You could only get those skins though loot boxes, which either was from a Level Up (Around 2 hours give or take of gameplay) or buying them. No credits. So essentially it was hardcore grind by playing all day HOPING you'd get the skin you want, or empty your wallet for even more chances.

Outbreak Packs? R6 Credits/Cash only. No way to get them using renown. You only get 4 on login, and an additional 10 ONLY if you buy the new editions. Other than that, you have to purchase them for 300 R6 credits each ($2.50 a pop, much more expensive than Overwatch's $1.50 each, cheaper with the discounts on buying in Bulk. However, you cannot buy R6 credits separately, so you are forced to buy the $5 pack at minimum.) So basically you HAVE to open your wallet or hope the stuff from the Alpha packs you get for free (quotation marks if you buy the Advanced edition) are the ones you want.

Assuming you already own the game, you need 46 packs to get everything. 300 R6 credits per pack, you need 13,800 R6 credits. That means you have to buy the 600 Credit pack 23 times, assuming that there isn't a Credit sale, but even then that is for the bigger packs and it's only 10%. That means you must spend around $115 USD for everything at maximum, and at minimum a little less than $100, thanks to them not dropping duplicate items or dipping into the standard alpha packs pool. Even though you get the insignificant discount with the Season Pass, it's still gonna cost you about the same since you have to buy the packs.

The kicker is this: There's an exclusive ELITE skin inside of the packs. Granted they said the normal variant is going to go for sale, this is a unique variant of it, and it's going to be Ash as depicted in the art from the Blog post. So that raises incentives even MORE to empty your wallet.

The sole difference between the two is that the Summer Games event for Overwatch comes back every year, which revisits the ability to get the skins you missed out on at a smaller cost credit-wise. Outbreak probably will not. So it becomes more hot button where you have to get them or never see them again. And on top of that those who have purchased the Y3 Season pass get NOTHING in terms of Outbreak gear. No additional packs whatsoever. This is plain greedy.

Even if it's cosmetic only, we shouldn't be paying to Gamble to get what we want. The only difference between this and normal loot box gambling is if you shill all out front you get what you want. If you don't have the cash to do so, you're SOL and are at mercy of RNG and your budget. You actually did loot box style stuff right with alpha packs (Can get them free, only able to get them through Renown without purchase of R6 Credits, only a small amount of items are alpha pack exclusive and those that aren't can be purchased with Renown anyway.) and then throw it all away for short cash grab scheme. You even raise the price for newcomers so that people who want to get into the game will either have to shill out an additional $20 just so that they get some loot boxes from an event they probably don't care about, unless they buy the vastly inferior starter edition that burns them out faster. I seriously hope you change how you're doing this event. Just making the Outbreak packs available with renown or replace alpha pack drops with outbreak drops would help your situation so much more. But for now, I'm extremely disappointed with you guys at Ubisoft. This is not fair for the vets or the newcomers.

No, this is not a "Overwatch is better than RS:S xddd" thread. I'm contrasting Overwatch's greediest event and what they announced for this one. Don't get it mixed up or take it out of context, please.

You mean give them away? erm..I mean lock them behind a playwall? umm..whatever you want it to mean, why would they do that? Sounds like a losing proposition to me. Of course they could always put them up for dirt cheap. You know, so everyone can earn the renown to purchase all 50 (including the elite) before the time expires. I will of course have all the cool stuff 10 mins after they drop. And then we can all sing Kumbaya to Ubi and give each other hugs of fluffy joy for being alive experiencing this sudden shift of cosmic love.

I'd be all for it, who's first?
