all right i have this screwed up sound card that i have had for about a year now. when i first got i i had problems with it. NO ****ING DRIVERS WILL INSTALL FOR IT. i need these drivers for my new 5.1 surround sound system but no drivers will install. i get no sound from any source games, no sound from vice city and probably some others. i am tired of this. i contacted tech support and they could not help me. it is a soundblaster live 5.1. i wanted your guys help to see what the problem is. ive been thinking of getting a new card but i am on a tight budget.

i have tried everything and nothing will install. all i have installed is the drivers on the cd and that is it. the new drivers say that i do not have the card installed but i do. either there is something wrong with the drivers or the card its self. can anyone help me?

    Try this:

Uninstall all drivers, and files associated with the sound card. Then go into the device manager, and uninstall the card itself. Turn off the machine. Open the box, reseat the card, then turn the machine back on. Then try installing the new drivers.

Remember, when you reboot, make sure your mdem is off or disconnected. XP likes to pick up old drivers from windows update for new hardware. Everytime I uninstall my vid drivers, and reboot, if I don't disconnect from the net, XP will install some old driver it got off of update.

If this don't work, there is always the reformat option.
