A Class concept : The duellist

[Warnings : i'm not a native english speaker so forgive me for the mistakes...]

Hello everyone, I am a huge fan of both For Honor and Game Design
Obviously, in this thread, i'll show you a class i've been working on recently : it's more a concept than a complete work but I still had some ideas of mechanics I find cool and I'd like to share with you !

I hope my work could give some ideas for a future character or simply a rework on old ones

    The duellist :

This class will (of course) fight with a rapier and be focused around counter-attacking and harass.
The Duellist is a vanguard (not sure if it fits, but i definitely don't think he could really fits as an assassin either due to his lack of mobility), and you could find this class in both male or female version.

The Duellist heavily focuses around weakening his opponent through bleed and disabling strikes : he or she is a sadist who enjoys winning a fight unharmed.

He have 100hp, no dodge attack and no fast recovery after a dodge : it's a character that is supposed to stand right front of his opponent and try do deal with him without being hurt

Let's begin with the mechanics :

    The guard on duellist :
    - The Duellist cannot block incoming attacks, meaning he doesn't even have a reflex guard : and he can't parry either.
    - The duellist can restore his ability to use one reflex guards (timing = same as shinobi) whenever he performs a successful deflect, a successful disarm, or a successful heay finisher. If he performs multiple moves that allows him to restore his reflex guard, he cannot stack more than 3 uses of his guards at the same time (represented by coloring one direction of his blocking ability in purple for each avaible use of his guard)
    - If the duellist successfully block an attack, he can press a light attack to perform an auto-hit bleed attack (as much dmg as a light attack), or the GB button to perform a Disarm that can be dodged
    - If the opponent is bleeding, a successful parry prevents the opponent from blocking attacks as long as the bleed lasts. This effect stops as soon as the bleed stops

    Bleed :
    - Like many characters, the Duellist have access to bleed (see how below)

    Botte :
    - By blocking "bottom" direction (same as using conq FBS), the duellist can enter in a sort of "Hidden stance" that allow him to dodge punches, kicks and similar moves. If he dodges one, he immediately performs a disarm on his opponent that cannot be dodged

    Disarm :
    - the duellist immediately hit the wrist of his opponent : it does low bleed damage (about 10 dmg really not much) and prevents the opponent to use light and heavy attacks while he bleeds. This effect stops as soon as the opponent stops bleeding
    - The disarm is fast but can be dodged and let the duellist open to GB
    - The disarm restore one use of the reflex guard on duellist

    Deflect :
    - The duellist have the deflect ability.
    - On a successful deflect, the duellist can perform an auto-hit heavy that start a chain by pressing heavy attack or he can perform a disarm by pressing the GB button
    - The deflect restore one use of the reflex guard on duellist

    Light attacks :
    - He can perform a chain of 3 light attacks. The first one is 600ms, the second and third one are 500ms and 400ms
    - Each hit made on the same side does additionnal bleed dmg

    Heavy attacks :
    - He can perform a chain of two heavy, or use a heavy as a combo finisher after a light.
    - He can charge a heavy finisher (not a heavy starter) for a bit more dmg and an additionnal effect (see below). A heavy timing is 700ms, and 950ms if fully charged.
    - A successful heavy finisher restore one use of the reflex guard on duellist
    - By pressing the light attack button, the duellist can soft feint a heavy finisher into a light attack from any direction. If it comes from the same direction than the feinted heavy, it does additionnal bleed dmg
    - By pressing the GB button, the duellist can soft feint a heavy finisher into a disarm that can be dodged

    Zone attack :
    - His zone attack consists in a "whip"-like attack with his rapier in front of him, essentially hitting from right to left then from left to right. each hit does medium dmg, but the second does a bleed. First hit is 650ms timing and the second one is 500 ms. The second one can be feinted.

    Passive :
    - The less HP the duellist possess, the most his reflex guard last (until it matchs a regular assassin's reflex guard if low hp)

You might have figured it out, but the whole point of this character is to weaken your opponent as much as possible without being hit.
You don't have crazy damaging attacks, but you have a lot of tools to prevent them if you manage to get at least one use of your reflex guard.
You must obtain bleed on your opponent and reflex guard uses as fast as possible to control the fight, or you'll quickly be in danger, especially against assassins, too fasts for perma-deflect / dodges.

I hope my class idea pleased you, feel free to leave a comment on it !
If you don't like it, I can understand that : it's just something i worked on a few hours, it can totally be improved.

I actually love the Rapier as a weapon. I wasn't familiar with it until I did a run of Dark Souls 2 and pretty much fell in love with it. Would be pretty cool to see the weapon here as well. It just has a certain level of style around it that makes it really fun to see and/or use. Thanks for posting up this concept.

    Thanks a lot !

The rapier is a very stylish weapon, and i'm very confident in the fact that it can quickly become a real plus on a character, because of it's unique design, i really hope to see it in the game one day or another

The rapier is the death of the knight, the weapons that put a end at their glory. You give someone a rapier, you kill the knight faction.
