not really much of a nerf she got in 1.8 and most things dont effect her play at all. i can see the centurion pattern here:
devs start changing things that make little to no impact on this character because she is the new favourite of a certain person...
even though i feel like its pointless to even make a post here about things that are obvious i give it one more shot:
her throwdistance is abnormal far for an assasin. even more so since a mercy/hunger is guaranteed from a throw. this needs to be adressed.
cut her throwdistance short and remove the guaranteed mercy/hunger from throw.
mercy/hunger is still an easy 400 ms free damage/wallsplat/ledgethrow. even more so since it can be hold to bait out an reaction and get the hit then.
hunger needs a much bigger wind up for the amount of reward you get from it.
Mercy needs an even bigger wind up animation or even a selfdamage penalty. as of now mercy is basically a demons embrace with NO negative side effects.
for a character with auto-healing she does not deserve the maximum assasin hp. she is faster, has saver attacks, and with her wildcats attacks even the same attack range as shinobi and yet she has more hp than him? cut her hp down to 100.
she is an assasin with auto-heal build in but yet she gets access to the Second Wind and Flesh Wound feats. this is just wrong. 25% damage resistance and additional healing is not something for such an fast assasin. this turns her more into a tank than most other characters that are supposed to be a tank.
replace Flesh Wound with Doom Banner and replace Second Wind with Throwing Axe.
with these changes she will still be the strongest assasin since she has the savest dodges and the best overall kit but at least she isnt the best Tank/Vanguard in the game.
Imo, all she still needs is:
- Either remove guaranteed headbutt/bite on GB after throw, or remove wallsplat from headbutt
- Reduce her throwing distance
- Change her feats (bleed bomb needs to go, and she doesn't need Second Wind)
- Upon missed Predator's Mercy, she should at least be drained of stamina (OOS)
- Readjust her sprinting speed while carrying an offering in Tribute
No issue with the rest of that but I would say given the second chance on predator's mercy is a thing the devs specifically want in given the special ability notes I would say that any full oos drain would need to come if they miss the follow up. Probably easier to do as well, make predator's mercy half the stamina bar, as opposed to if they miss penalise stamina.Originally Posted by Fady117 Go to original post
Aha, good thinking, an OOS penalty on a 2nd bite attempt during the same bleed status on opponent sounds more logical. Bite can no longer be spammed. This should also negate the extremely cheesy bite feint into another bite, to bait a dodge and land a guaranteed bite. Since when you initiate the bite and the unblockable icon pops up, the stamina cost should register. And yeah, they could make the bite cost half the entire bar; that way it becomes an automatic OOS drain rather than a forced mechanic.Originally Posted by CandleInTheDark Go to original post
True, however Shugoki's Demon Embrace is uninterruptible and he can go for it while you're mid-attack. Also, it's a 1-shot from full health if Shugoki is at critical health (less than 1 bar). He can also redo Demon's Embrace while at critical health and not die. It's true it is slower, way slower, but it's just as bad as Shaman's bite. At least Shaman doesn't one-shot in any circumstance. Only, you can take the bite away from Shaman and she'll still be dangerous. But take the hug away from Shugoki and he's nothing but a sponge waiting its death. On top of Shugoki being the slowest hero overall. That's why no one really complained about Demon Embrace.Originally Posted by BarbeQMichael Go to original post
For the most part, I agree. Given the safety of her moveset, there needs to be some kind of drawback. Simply buffing or reworking other characters isn't going to make shaman any less frustrating because she's simply too fast to interrupt half the time and she controls the battle.Originally Posted by Fady117 Go to original post
Guaranteed headbutt or bite on gb is far too much, as well as the guaranteed heavy soft feint into bleed on gb. This is ridiculously powerful since it automatically sets your opponent on the defensive for a VERY long time. Personally, if they wanted to keep that, they should speed up the bleed ticks from shaman to make the window for bites and healing significantly smaller without directly making her weaker.
Her stamina costs need to go up a small bit, as well
Agreed, it's already good enough she can deal a 100% guaranteed bleed on deflect. Guaranteed bleed on GB becomes too stronk. And the bite is guaranteed on GB.Originally Posted by RLTygurr Go to original post
Speeding up the bleed ticks seems a good idea. Considering sped up bleed ticks and the fact that two consecutive bites put her OOS, this makes it that she can only attempt the bite twice before she's at risk, as opposed to three times currently (and no stamina penalty), and it also reduces her bleed autoheal by a small margin. I think it's fair. The entire autoheal on hit concept is stupid. If it should exist, it should be minimal.
Throw distance is always something I thought was off, I kind of wonder if it is a side effect of the fact it guarantees her pounces.Originally Posted by The_B0G_ Go to original post
I would like to see her feats reworked. Beside the healing one, also with the bite that heals, is all the traps need to go. Getting towards the end of a dominion match with a shamen holding a zone, it turns into a mine field with no place to go. Sure you roll and maybe miss one but mid roll she will jump attack and as you get your bearings boom hit a trap and don't move to right cause there is another there...Don't know what is more annoying this or the Knights missle strikes at the end of a game.
At this time, we don't have any more details regarding further nerfs to the Shaman. However, this doesn't mean that we aren't investigating possible changes for the future on her. We're not blind to the fact that many players still consider her a major pain compared to the other members of the hero roster. We'll continue to collect player feedback on her for the team to use in conjunction with the game's data to make appropriate changes in the future.
