Whoever programmed the protect el-Pulpo mission needs to be fired

Ive dropped the difficulty from tier one modes extreme all the way to arcade, but still he dies. I've repeated the mission 12 times, every time he dies. this mission is in a 3/5 difficulty area, and you have made a mission that is seemingly random in single player mode. Me having to rely on the AI to kill things for me while I drive the land rock with the AI "manning" the turret. They can't shoot for S*** so naturally, he dies... how many times must I replay this mission before he stays in the same car all the way to the airport? And why the F*** can't I just abduct him like usual?!?!?!?

Yup same here. Especially in Tier mode. Enemy have Gau8 gattlings, you have a BB gun.

Why is the HVT driving himself? Which close protection unit allows that?

Of course everyone would just.. you know... Airlift him.

I've not done it in Tier 1, but last week on extreme, without hud and with a character that has no upgrades for vehicles or resistence.

The trick is knowing how prodection details work. You don't worry about killing anybody in single player. Your job is to stay behind Pulpo roughly 50-100m and never crash into him. That last part is really important. Keep the damage to his car limited to crashes he has and the couple of shots he gets from passing by firing posts.

Your driving on the other hand should shield him against the pickups that follow him. Those destroy him pretty badly, but if you stay in between and slow them down they start firing at you and leave him alone. The only times you rush forward is to hit the pickups that spwan on the side of the street to follow him. Give them a good hit passing by and keep them behind you from then on. Last time I did the mission I got Pulpo in his jeep all the way to the airport... my unupgraded humvee didn't make it beyond the cities main intersection - but that's the point where you have to get out to destroy the helo anyhow.

    Protip:
When you reach the checkpoint at the beginning of the mission at the intersection leading up to Pulpos house your mission starts for real. Kill the two sicarios at the checkpoint and the one on the path to the HVT's house. Then use one of the cars at the checkpoint and drive 50m north and block the street so that no trafic comes from that direction driving towards town. Now go back to the checkpoint and put the other car on the markings on the street and 1-2 mines next to the car on the side that leads towards town.

The roadblock down the road prevents random civilians and unidad from closing in. The car on the street slows down the spawning pickup and forces it to bypass your roadblock running over a mine thus eliminating the first source of damage for Pulpo.

In multiplayer I suggest the second player to be the gunner, 3rd to drive a secnd vehicle that will do its best to hit threats on Pulpos left flank without colliding with his car and the 4th to be gunner for #3.

Sometimes you get bad luck, (for me Puplo once didn't enter the helicopter because I passed him by with my car at the airport and he got scared of being run over so his AI stopped for good :P ), but as long as you do your best to just protect him from being shot at by the persuing cars and you don't run into him, he should make it to the big intersection, then its about getting the helo down and the last 2 shooters at the airport.

But didn't they fix it? Iirc they told us so.

Then you're a much better an luckier player than I am. I have never managed to get that far on Tier 17. I get sniped out of the driver seat by the enemy while my gunner is standing there going "BRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR RRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR RRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR RRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR RRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR RRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR RRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR RRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR RRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR RRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR RRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR RRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR RRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR RRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR RRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR RRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR RRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR RRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR RRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR RRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR RRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR RRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR RRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR RT" and not killing one vehicle or even enemy gunner.

Sorry, I should have made it clearer - I didn't use the Tier 1 mode at all doing the mission. I did just some specific missions and random shooting with Tier 1. Tier 1 mode makes many missions impossible IMHO. You don't even need to reach the later stages of the mode to be out of luck... any mission that is combat based and doesn't give you the luxury of picking your fights/timing becomes next to impossible.

Ah my apologies too I misunderstood what you were saying. I thought you meant you've done it ON Tier 1, with no HUD...

I figured out a way to get him to the airport safely, you need him to drive the landrock and not any other car. First you spawn a armored suv for yourself. Then disable the other vehicles he can drive, leaving the landrock alone, by sniping the engines, he wont get into a car that is smoking. Let him drive the landrock and you cover him with your armored suv. Then you have the problem of him getting shot as he makes the run across the airfield... nothing I can do for that. rinse and repeat until he makes that last run.

Whoever programmed the AI period, needs to go back to school and start over tbh. I'm on the mission to extract El Cardinal, and I was stood there, Arm around the HVTs neck, fighting off a small army of Sicarios while one of my AI team mates stood about 5 feet away, gun down, staring off into the sunset. I've also had an enemy walk past and AI team mate and shoot me in the back while interacting with an objective.. Been surrounded by them while downed and not one of them tried to revive me.. They really need to give us the option to turn the friendly AI off, it's never a help and constantly a hindrance. Yet crank the Tier one difficulty up and the Enemy AI turns into a Jason Bourne clone army..
