    The Dakar 1-percenters...and other topics

Hi! As this event winds down, going into its last 4-day round..... I just thought I would I just create a topic to allow people to toot their own horn a bit. And give some final impressions on what has been good (or bad) about the Dakar event. For myself:

    - I am now 5-for-5 in getting into the one-percenter group (currently at 0.5%, where I tend to hang), and dont know of any reason I wont make it the 6th time as well.
    - I also just finished getting the last map piece for the 3 tracks we have to get..... Lotus Swamp, Radical Roadworks, Cliff-Hanger (although I admit that I was given Lotus Swamp in one Loot Wheel due to a temporary RL bug). Needed some gems to speed up Cliff-Hanger, but thankfully not too many...

Winning this event is a pretty good "grinding accomplishment", and I know I am not the only one who has done it, by far.... so everyone else please feel free to post about it as well!

    Pros/Cons of the event:
    - It was a refreshing change to see some of the tougher tracks in these kinds of events for once (many of the island tracks, etc). I get VERY tired of always having to do Market Street, Night Life, etc....
    - Nice to have an event that encourages use of all of the "new bikes" recently added. . . . and you handed out some of the bike blueprints as well (Bandito, at minimum) for those who didnt have it finished yet.
    - I like the 6-round 4-day event approach, mostly because it has a good focus on rider skill (have to keep proving yourself) and track variety.
    - I think 1% is just about the right "sweet spot" where its a decent challenge to get/stay in, but not so small that everyone is killing themselves (ie devoting their spare time for weeks) to be in a category where only 50-100 people can get the top reward.

    - I wish RL would have handed out rally tickets more often, especially on the loot wheel. Maybe it was because of the map pieces we earned there instead, but I just didnt get many rally tickets from the Loot Wheel....
    - As was mentioned elsewhere, the "watch a video for rally tickets" aspect didnt work well for me. I did get the tickets eventually by constantly retrying.... but SO many of the videos didnt give rewards!

I also like these kind of events, not only for the grinding, but also for the reason that you should have some decent skill level in order to climb to the top 1%. So far i am also in top 1% on all legs. I got the Lotus Swamp track from the loot wheel, but since then i spent so many tickets on tracks, just to be able to spin the loot wheel once again, even though i was in top 100 of these tracks and there were only few track pieces after these forced wheel respins. Currently (beginning of leg 6) i got 3/10 - Cliff Hanger, 7/10 - Air Assault and 7/10 - Reverse Engineering. The Radical Roadworks track i managed to collect from awards and loot wheel. This is all with a lot of gems spent on the loot wheel (i didn't missed a piece). As i can see the Air Assault and Reverse Engineering tacks will be collected as the leg 6 gives 3 pieces each as rewards. I hope there will be enough pieces on the loot wheel for the Cliff Hanger

I wished there was some special award for being in top 100 for a track, top 100 for a leg and top 100 for the event as a whole. this would just make me spend some more tickets, as long as you know what you are riding for.

I am happy overall from this event. And wish they manage to put some more like these and why not create some Ferry 2, Ferry 3 ... some new story lines in the village

I miss the day we could use our "infinite fuels" to play the Rally events.

Now those are collecting dust together with an ever growing stock of unused items

    hi there
does anyone have a problem with lumber yard in leg 6
the score is added to the general leaderboard not to the dakar rally leaderboard
also after finnishing the track it says my personal best timing is 00:00:00 sec
i reinstalled the game 3 times but still the same and it is affecting my entire score in leg 6

Yeah, everyone have it. Looks like there's normal leaderboard is used instead of rally one. I think it's because this track have large ID number (internal game thing), non-standard one.

Warning: This may be a long one. I can ramble with the best.

Bugs and annoyances aside, this was the best event I've seen since I started playing in late 2016.
    - Rewards are good (tracks and gems)!
    - Leg duration was appropriate. I think a little shorter (3 days per leg) might actually be a bit more engaging but any longer would be torture.
    - I really like the event ticket approach*
    - Nice mix of tracks. Happy that some slightly more challenging tracks were added.
    - The interim daily challenges were nice, with the exception of that one on day 4 to improve 5 track times

    Suggestions
    - Top 2% seems like a nicer cutoff point, particularly given the cheating issues. This also doubles the number of players who are grinding for a top prize...surely that has to be good for the health of this game? Plus the added benefit of 2x the players with a given track makes for better leaderboard integrity.
    - It would be awfully nice if a PR set in the event carried over to the normal track leaderboard.
    - More info on the loot wheel tracks would be better (e.g. when they might appear/disappear). I spent a ton of gems trying to get the track pieces when they showed up on the loot wheel just in case they wouldn't be available after the 4-day leg ended. On several occasions I spent over 100 gems for a single track piece.

    Event Tickets*
I really like the ticket system. 7 tickets + 3 (watch ad) + random loot wheel tickets is a nice way to start the day. This means you get a solid 2-4 play sessions per day. For me it's the perfect balance between not having enough tickets and having too many (feeling obligated to burn them all, but not really enjoying what I'm doing). It forces you to focus on every run, which is exactly what I think Trials should be. The bonus 2-tickets on the loot wheel is nice, but (as usual) it seems stingy sometimes. I like the idea of performance reward, so maybe offer 1 ticket on the loot wheel for a silver run, 2 for gold, and 3 for platinum? I also really like that tickets are available for gems in case you're on a roll and don't want to quit.

    Bugs
    - Constant server disconnection requiring repeated logins. Often required 5-6 login attempts over a single 1-hour session. This is a painful way to play a game.
    - Outfit fiasco. RL adding gems to compensate for missed tickets is ok but some people will miss tracks because of this error. I hope RL is able to compensate appropriately once the event is over. This didn't affect me but I feel bad for those who bought it and didn't get the benefit.

Side-note: please release more old tracks! I don't really care about new content until I get the old ones.

Well, the event is over. I thought it was pretty fun. Definitely had some good rewards. For the three loot wheel tracks I managed to collect 22 pieces from spins in the first five legs. Then in the final leg I used gems for respins to get the pieces I still needed. They were pretty generous with gems as prizes so I ended up winning more than I had to spend so that worked out great!

The track rewards were good too. A couple of them had some familiar elements but for the most part they’re new and fun. I’m a 1%’er but usually hanging around the bottom of that group. That means I get the tracks that are awarded to the best riders and always end up last on them! For Reverse Engineering I’m ranked 80th out of 98 riders on iOS. It’s great being the worst of the best!
