Hey guys! I would first recommend verifying your game files (Depending if you purchased the game through Steam or Uplay). You could also try uninstalling and reinstalling the game. If you are still having issues, please try the following steps as well. If you are still having issues, please make a ticket with your msinfo and dxdiag files attached.

Same Problem with Steam Version. Disabled FXAA in Nvidia Control Panel. This works for me but it looks bad now.

I can confirm that disabling FXAA from the Nvidia Control Panel actually worked for me. Must be the most bizarre fix I've ever had to do for a game, but it actually worked

Since the update today my game will not launch, I get the black screen like it's going to then it disappears and nothing.

I don't have MSI Afterburner running, I did not update my Nvidia driver to 390, still using 388.00 and I verified my files...everything was fine. Are there any other possible fixes for whatever they managed to break on PC?

EDIT: I had missed the turning off FXAA in Nvidia control panel and that did indeed let my game start up.

I can also confirm that turning of FXAA allows the game to start.

    Same Problem, Same Fix

I had exactly the same problem. Game was running fine a couple of days ago but when the new patch came out the game wouldn't start. The only fix was the one in this thread to turn off FXAA in Nvidia Control Panel.

Even though this fixes the problem, it does leave the game looking worse so should only be a short term way to solve it. Hopefully Ubisoft can bring a patch out to fix this in the next couple of days.

Thanks to the person who found this fix in the meantime.

Got It Working Here is How - NVIDIA GPUS

So I went into my Nvidia control panel and in the 3d applications settings (where all the settings are for gaming and programs) and at the bottom hit the restore to factory or defaults, then opened up my Nvidia Experiance, scanned for games, once that was done optimized all games, then hovered over ACO and pressed Play.....

there is something in the Nvidia controls 3d apllications settings that conflicts with the games settings, thus making it not launch

NOTES: I do not know if it will start through the uplay launcher or the exe itself as I have not tried nor confirmed or varified if it does or not.

I did not go through one by one the settings under 3d applications thus do not know which setting is directly affecting this games launching.......

I DID alt tab out of the game once it was started and turned all my settings back to the way i wanted them, and the game still ran fine with out crashing, so which ever setting it is affects its launching, not its running.........

P.S. I just read some of the above about the FXAA, after posting this,

you shoud be able to alt tab while game is running to turn it back on so it looks better, at any rate the game itself has a slew of settings in it when turned on makes it look good so i dont know if the two are hand in hand or if you can have it turned on in game but off in gpu control panel if that makes a difference or not. If someone could enlighten me on that id appreciate it.

Why they heck did the update prevent FXAA from working? I happen to like FXAA from NVidia more so than the one from ReShade!
