Hi,
in ACIV: Black Flag, you can see Spanish and British ships who fighthing each other. Sometimes i want to intervene their battle (mainly in the side of weak one), but we are unable to this because after we sink the enemy, we are attacked by ship that saved by us. I think player must able to sign privateering contract with "governments" in single player mode.
Are we speaking Skull and Bones or ACIV because in ACIV your an Assassin who is a pirate and the Spanish and English want you dead there was no negotiating simply because of the Templar influence in both factions. In Skull and Bones this would be plausible but unlikely due to 1726 marking the end of the Golden Age of Piracy there was little to no privateering contracts as everyone was well on their way out the governments were hunting down the last of the pirates meaning they fully intend to make you the enemy of every nation in the Caribbean. Of course for a gameplay perspective having one side as the "Defender" and another as the "Attacker" I could see this being used to protect a nations ships while one side attempts to take down and loot them. But historically it just wouldn't fit.
Why it wouldn't fıt? Privateering continued until the mid-19th century, they are common in Napoleonic Wars (especially French ones), Quasi War and War of the 1812, few privateers also served in American Civil War, and about the era of the game, there was famous privateer Woodes Rogers who served for British crown in Indian ocean, although privateers common in 18th century, i think late 17th century would be better for this.
I do agree that if you see a combat between, say for instance, Dutch and British ships and you destory the Dutch fleet without hitting the British they shouldn't enter into combat with you.
At the same time we would likely be flying Pirate colours which would give the British ships an in-game real reason to then attack us. Who knows though, we'll have to wait and see what they've got planned.
Yes we don't have any real information about that yet and i've rewatched the videos and found out it is the Indian Ocean, 1721 not the Caribbean so judging by the activity during that time I would say it could be likely its completely up to how they introduce the events and if they feel they want to have that option. They mentioned not forcing us to perform pvp or do anything and allowing us to play as we wish so I could see them not wanting us to forcibly destroy both nation's ships.
play as we wish? well I would like to step on every land piece I see, will I be able to do that? no? then its pretty much not itOriginally Posted by Tactical-Raven Go to original post
