    Thanks for getting back CaptainWeelie
I’m using an iPad Air 2 with version 11.2.2. This has been happening for a good year now. Just didn’t care about it until it came to the limited runs available for this event. This also happened on my ipad 3. Doesn’t matter if I just turn on the iPad and start cold or if it’s been on playing a while. Completely random and seemingly at the worst possible time. Insert Murphy’s law here. Cheers

Trials Frontier on iOS has always had issues where sometimes it doesn't detect a button press. There are times I will admit I have just missed the buttons, I play on a iphone 6 and the buttons are kind of small. However, sometimes when it stops responding I look at the where my thumb is and it is directly on the button. So it indeed sometimes just doesn't recognize the press.

I once requested a feature that instead of just buttons there are zones. So your thumb doesn't need to be right on the button, just needs to be in the right zone. This would drastically help players on a phone where the buttons are small. Nothing came of it though.

    Root cause
A bug related to internet connection.

    Repro steps:
    1. Start a race
    2. Switch to another app
    3. Switch back to the game app
Result: after few seconds you loose control for few seconds
    Workaround: disconnect from internet

    Real case 1:
Just yesterday rode a train, cell connection was going in and out.
Without switching an app, the game has reacted many times by freezing controls, until I turned the "airplane mode" on.
That screwed one of my best runs

    Real case 2:
Controls freeze every time (yes, every single time) when I start the game app.
It shows the town, swipe and click work, then after few seconds everything freezes for few seconds.

    P.S.
This bug has been around for more than a year. It has became unplayable for me with combination of other bugs. Another reason why I rated the game with 1 star even though I like it.

Excellent. I will try this and see if it I can reproduce it. I've always assumed it was due to me missing the buttons or some sort of screen contamination.

I was having an issue with buttons becoming unresponsive also.
I found out that it only happens when my phone is rotate clockwise (the bottom of the phone is on the left). If I have it rotated this way the gas button just stops working sometimes.
I don't have any issues with it rotated the other way (bottom of the phone is on the right).
I have an LG Nexus 5x.

    Hopefully this helps someone.

I play TF 95% of the time on my rooted Samsung Galaxy TabPro 12.2 with Android version Lollipop 5.1.1. I bought it the day it was released in February 2014, which is almost four years to the exact day today. TF runs like a champ on it with ZERO issues whatsoever. Again, it's FOUR YEARS OLD with completely outdated software and hardware. No button drops, no losing gas, no losing control whatsoever.

TF is wholly unplayable on my non-rooted Samsung Galaxy S8+ Android version Nougat 7.0. Every bike will do forward flips without any input, as well as losing gas without moving my finger at all. I always glance at my finger positions every time I start doing flips AND/OR losing gas, but I'm right on top of the buttons. I always make sure my screen and hands are 100% clean. I've tried orienting the phone clockwise and counter clockwise, moving the buttons up/down/offset, closing any other running apps, uninstall and reinstall, restarting the phone, clearing cache (dalvik as well), and everything else many of you have suggested and/or have had success with.

It's completely and utterly disappointing that I can't play TF on the go without wanting to throw my phone on the ground and stomping the bejesus out of it. More times than I care to mentally revisit I've been at a crucial point in setting a PB time and crashing on the last hill/jump due to front flips, loss of gas, or complete loss of control. Playing in the Bunker with my S8+ is a cruel joke. No doubt a waste of time, ranks, and golden tickets. The ONLY time I use my phone in the Bunker is after I've made the legendary leaderboard and giving the players stuck at rank 1, 2, or 3 a chance to make the legendary leaderboard. Crashing 15x on each of the three tracks to let the other person take over the tracks super easy? That and watching ads for golden tickets/gems is all my S8+ is good for in terms of TF.

Fix this ~ish already, instead of putting out new content that's inherently broken due to the persistent aforementioned problems, as well as additional longstanding issues others are having.

By the way, the top grand prize currently showing for me in the Bunker is a doughnut. All but three or four rank prizes in the Bunker are doughnuts. Seriously? How about the last map piece for Reverse Engineering?!

Thanks to ANYONE that read my entire rant...

Same here. My back flip button doesn’t work at times. Hard to level out for a landing when you’re constantly flipping forward.

I have started to see this issue in the ongoing event tracks for some reason. There are momentary pauses when controls seem dead and then the face meets pavement...
    Very annoying!
    I'm on iPad Air 2, IoS 11.2.5
