Hello All,
So as you may or may not be aware, there is a large Irish community for Rainbow Six Siege across all platforms. I have had many discussions with lots of gamers from different platforms about how amazing it would be to see some IRA operators released at some point in the future.
The IRA (Irish Republican Army) is a well known guerrilla warfare organisation set up in around 1916/1917 when Irish Volunteers refused to enlist in the British Army during World War I.
Although the IRA may be considered an extremist organization, I feel the use of such operators would be a great sight to see on this platform.
My suggestion would be 1 attacker 1 defender, with some Irish mythology names. On the note of names I think the operator could also have the ability that the name associates with.
A small few examples would be:
Dian Cecht - god of healing (could have something similar but more useful to Doc, rather than a healing gun, it could be a deployable healing station.)
Badb - a war goddess who caused fear and confusion among soldiers, often taking the form of a crow (this could be similar to Echo however used as an attacker instead and they would use this instead of their drone, and rather than concussing them, it could make them confuse friendly operators for enemies)
Bébinn - a goddess associated with birth (They could hold the ability to bring back an operator of their choosing from the dead)
I know mythological figures are in no way related to the IRA, however I am sticking with an Irish based theme with this one obviously.
Weapons of choice by the IRA are listed below which are already in the game:
9mm Browning, Taurus, Glock and Beretta handguns.
AK-47 Kalashnikov and AKM assault rifles.
MP5 submachine guns.
FN MAG machine guns.
Military flamethrowers.
Semtex plastic explosive.
If there is anyone that would love to support this idea, please show some love! any more specific ideas in more detail would be great, I don't have any specifics in mind just wanted to throw my thoughts out there and see could this be possible as I know myself and allot of other Irish Siege players would love this to come into the game!
Thank you,
Peace and love.
That is very true, I think just the name of the forces would be IRA but obviously not make it so that it is promoting the actions of the forces in any way at all. I think this is why I would like to see the names being mythological figures to make it more about Ireland as a whole rather than IRA specifically.Originally Posted by fetafretka1 Go to original post
But yea I agree it could be a big grey area in the Devs eyes.
When I saw this, I kinda felt the same way. I can only comment from what I read, being that I am not from the part of the world and I have heard/read so many things. Like anything else, 'boots on ground' really tell the story more often then not.Originally Posted by IrishSpud25 Go to original post
However, I agree here that Ubi would probably not want to go with this story (i.e. IRA) for those reasons. The politics would be nuts.
Yea thanks for that mate, I would edit or remove the whole thread and resubmit it if anyone knows how let me know?
First post so not sure how all this works.. I just want to request Irish Ops, but the IRA is the most well known Irish made Army in a sense that I thought would fit this game style, wasnt thinking of the political side of it when I wrote it up.
Thanks for the input!
I believe that we will never see and organization like the IRA in siege, not just because of the politics, but, because the IRA was always an extra-governmental paramilitary group through it's history. Regardless of political alignment. (It does not help the case that the IRA has been widely viewed as terrorist organization)Originally Posted by IrishSpud25 Go to original post
Just like the above mentioned Kurdish fighters, even though they are viewed by the west as generally fighting terrorists (AFAIK, they have been fairly active fighting against ISIL in both Syria and northern Iraq), they are a militia, and a non-governmental paramilitary force.
A better example to use may be the ARW. (Irish Army Ranger Wing)
They have a fair reputation amongst the special operations community, as they have been involved in a dozen or so operations, both at home and abroad, in the past four decades, and only have had three losses shared publicly. One of them was a vehicle roll over... the other two are assumed to be combat related, but nothing has been confirmed. That is a pretty good reputation of getting the job done without casualties. Unmatched really...
I heard about them from both sides of the pond and they seem pretty legit. That would probably be pretty coolOriginally Posted by DontTwitchMeBro Go to original post![]()
