I just came back to the game couple weeks ago, and starting to get into Survival (PvE). Overall I like it, though starting out vastly undergeared/gunned is starting to wear on me.
Now i play Pubg/Fortnite, so I understand the trying to find loot and gear up and all that as I progress through.
But what are some basic tips to get good gear fast? Or what are general guidelines the vets at this mode do? Thanks
Unless you want to go in blind check out the-division-map.com and set the filter to the Survival map. Find where there are some decent places nearby the starting safe houses to get some clothing, my first goal every Survival match is to get to an apartment that has a bunch of clothing chests so I can survive in the cold longer while exploring...less time around bum barrels is more time looting.
Explore and loot, try and clear a landmark or two, craft the filter for the DZ, and get yourself a healing skill (first aid works better than support station) and a turret (going in solo it helps to have a second weapon firing at the NPCs and attracting their attention). The more you play the more you'll learn the map. That is a pretty good start...it took me a few runs before I made it to the DZ and a few more before I successfully extracted with the antivirals.
I think using that map ruins the experience.Originally Posted by eckLub Go to original post
I enjoyed the struggle, building routes. I was even scouting areas of the LZ so that I would have better idea about what everything looked like without the weather.
Yeah I went in blind myself. Partly because back when I first played Survival there weren't any decent maps haha. I'd definitely recommend going in blind to experience it and learn, but you have to go in knowing you're most likely not going to extract and you're not going to get any decent loot. Survival isn't about gearing up or anything it's about that game mode by itself really.
As someone who has beat Survival at least 100 times, I must say that your best bet is to get into the DZ early and collect div tech. Clearing open world landmarks is not worth the risk. I usually get into the DZ with 50-55 minutes left and try to collect 30 Div Tech. Then I craft all gold items and 5 firearms mods. At that point I clear any remaining landmarks and then kill my hunter. My typical DZ Div Tech route only requires me to kill about 10 enemies, and I never encounter any gold enemies.
