New Player Feedback for Wildlands
I've played the Division since launch, and it's been pretty much the only game I played for the longest time; It was Ubisoft game.
Before then I played mostly RPG and Indi games, like Fallout, Skyrim, Binding of Issac, Don't starve, ect.
Wildlands was gifted to me by a friend, and now playing with him through the campaign and I'm level 6; new player
Some Awesome things
- The map looks amazing when high in a helicopter.
- The character customization, though lacking in some areas, is far Superior to the Division's character customization. I love the ballistic mask, the cigarettes and even the arm tattoos. You can make a badass looking character. There is more RPG in the Wildlands character creator than the Division, which is an RPG game.
- I love how a convoy can just route near you and you have to take advantage of it. Or just choose where and when you want to do something
- That beginning cutscene was amazing.
- I love how it feels the player is appart of a world that seems to be active even when the player isn't around. It doesn't put the player at the center of the world, but makes the player an active player within that world.
A few things I found weird
- The character creation was very limited in not being able to choose face shape with skin colour, and also limited hair styles and facial hair styles. Something in common with Wildlands and the Division.
- When I first played, the graphics an look weird, like low res textures, blurry grass movement, high res shadows being rendered about 15m in front of the characters from low res shadows, some items popped into existence at a short range, and just some low frame rates. But after some tweaking in the nvidia control panel and graphics settings, I got the game running at a higher FPS and looking way better than it first booted up.
- The driving controls seem really weird, like they're slippery and turning seems delayed and over shoots. This could be intended and I might need practice, but it felt strange. I've been driving very recklessly, like off cliffs in cars or hitting rocks full speed with a motorcycle with no repercussion so far.
- When I first played, the mouse seemed to stutter a huge amount. After tweaking and dropping one of my CPU cored for the game, the stutter decreased. It's still their but it gets less noticeable the more I play.
- I tried to play solo and I get bored very quickly. I know this is subjective, just saying what I feel. I think this game is way better with a friend.
- The Skill progression honestly is boring and almost unnecessary. The progression though weapon modifications is way kooler that putting a stat into letting me parachute. The GunSmith system applied to upgrading the drone would have been pretty awesome. Something like SkillSmith.
- For me as a new player, I can't imagine how hard it'd be for someone without a friend to guide them on how the game works. Similar issue to the Division.
I'm only level 6 so only limited feedback, but with my friend I'm enjoying the beginning of the game so far.
