At 178, I would focus on Underground and Missions. It would be a good idea to keep an eye out for Gear Sets. These will give a great boost to your stats even if your Item Level is low.

There are also World Bosses, aka Named Elites. The below link is to a map which shows you where you can find each World Boss.

    https://the-division-map.com/

Using the above map, you can find all the Bosses which will drop you Yellow Gear, Gear Sets, and a small chance to get an Exotic (Orange) item.

One thing that might help you ensure you are staying in your difficulty level is to ensure you are in the right World Tier for your current gear level. Open the Map, and press the appropriate button to select a World Tier. There are 5 World Tiers, and each are labeled by the average Gear Level of the enemies that you will encounter.

I second this. But be sure to be on the right world tier, or you will either get gear below your current gear level, or you will simply get steam rolled by the enemy.

this is my personal opinion but

i would say aside from collecting the right gear pieces, the first thing you wana do is get one with the movements and character mechanics. get in the habit of, say for example, running lexington on t5 challenging with open party over and over till your character controls come to you as second nature and you have no doubts about your movements in the game. i'd say do it as warmup for half an hour or more when you log in every day. it helped me tremendously

that aside, you'd need to collect the gears that are in 'fashion' right now. for that you have a few option. underground is really good. for drops, and also for that practice i just mentioned. hunters spawn randomly per run, if you kill them you have the biggest chance for getting decent gears.

also, go to dz 7/9 and do the landmarks one after the other. they spawn pretty fast. kill all the npcs and make sure to check what the boss drops cos thats your road to the rarer drops that you'll be looking for.

every week you can do the incursions and legendary missions once to get an exotic cache for each. i'd understand if you wana leave them till youre properly geared and into the game first.

in short, do lexington on repeat with open party on t5 challenging as warmup everyday, do undergrounds, clear the dz 7/9 landmarks over and over. the guns you wana be looking out for are : lightweight m4, lvoa-c, bullfrog, the house, big alejandro, mg5, m700 carbon, classic m44, showstopper. classified gears that you wana be looking out for : striker, nomad, predator, sentry, dfnc, reclaimer, ninja bike backpack, barrett's chestpiece, skulls mc gloves. eventually you'd get into the thick of the game and you can choose between which gears, guns or talents to run for your playstyle

if youre on pc, add me on uplay. same name as here
