AMD Radeon RX 580 - Ground texture(s) randomly disappearing

Ground texture(s) are disappearing either randomly or after viewing the map and forcing me to completely restart my PC for the fix. I've searched online and found out that many RX 580 users were having similar issue. All my PC parts are new, fresh Windows install and using latest drivers for everything. I also recorded a session and put it on YouTube.

    PC Specs:
CPU - AMD Ryzen 5 1600x (no OC applied)
MB - Asus RoG Strix X370-F Gaming (BIOS 3401)
RAM - G.Skill Trident Z RGB F4-3200C16-16GTZR (no OC applied)
GPU - Asus RoG Strix Radeon RX 580 T8G Gaming (Adrenalin 17.12.2, no OC applied)
    SSD - Samsung 850 Pro 512GB
HDD - Western Digital Black 1TB
    PSU - EVGA SuperNova 650 G3
    CASE - NZXT Noctis 450

I hope someone at GRW team acknowledges this issue.Thank you!

    Hello,

Are you sure first of all that your setup meets the indicated requirements?

Usually this sort of thing happens when there is not enough GPU/RAM to work together in order to produce the textures etc.

I definitely would believe that this is a RAM issue. Either a lack of RAM or the RAM does not meet the minimum requirements. Now simply writing a lot of technical names of parts isn't very useful. If you HAVE 8GB RAM or more then this is a very weird issue and I don't know where to help; but if your RAM is lower than 8GB that will be the problem. Could also have something to do with a faulty GPU/CPU but that's unlikely, although possible.

Another reason is if your RAM is maxing out that could be why, it can't possibly display anymore textures. Your best bet is to get 16GB RAM if you don't already have that. It's also better to get 2 8GB Sticks as 2 running together is more effective than 1 running by itself.

Like I said before if you already have 16GB RAM then contact Ubisoft Support directly as this is a very rare issue and I have never seen this before.

But don't rule out the possibility of faulty hardware.

I've 2x8GB RAM running at JEDEC spec and 8GB VRAM so I think that's enough for this or any other game. I'm also playing on High/Very High preset instead of Ultra and even then the VRAM usage indicated in the game seems to be well in the limit. I play The Division on maximum settings and I've no issues there. I found couple of threads regarding the same issue and AMD GPUs seems to be common. I think this is not about faulty hardware.

It's not like the ground textures aren't loading right from the start. They do until I open the map and close it. Thank you for the reply!

    Hey Ikkipooh,

Can you please create a case on the support website and submit your DxDiag and MsInfo files for further investigation?

    Thanks!

    Same issue

I have the exact same issue. Setting the Terrain Quality to Low offers a temporary fix for me. Did you find any other solutions?

I keep restarting my PC every time this happens. Kinda annoying honestly. I'll try that terrain quality thing. Thanks!

I tried it and it works! Setting it High is causing the issue again.

RX 580 and ABSOLUTELY same problem. It is not faulty driver (on client side). Before update that added ghost war mode everything was ok!
