Currently, when you start the game, join a game, or switch loadouts, the Path of the Nomad talent resets it's cooldown period. I understand the basic reason why, it would be a major exploit to switch loadouts and have a second life with such ease. But Signature skills don't reset their cooldown every time you change gear, why should Nomad?
Instead of the current reset system, have it so that when Path of the Nomad goes on cooldown, the 4-min cooldown period is tracked the same way Signature skills are, once it's ready to go, it's ready to go. That way there's no exploit, but I don't join my friends game and be hindered for 4 min, despite having already waited 4m to get off cooldown to begin with.
Yep, I agree entirely. As far as I can see, Nomad is the only gear set punished this way. What is the point of having loadouts that allow us to try different tactics when leaving the checkpoint to deal with campers if any attempt to change to Nomad results in a four minute cool down on the skill.
As stated, we understand that if you are wearing Nomad and Path of the Nomad procs, there is a 4 minute cool down. Swapping builds and changing back to Nomad should NOT reset Path of the Nomad. However by the same logic, if your Path of the Nomad is NOT on cool down and you switch to Predator, there is no reason why your Nomad should go onto cool down when you switch back.
As the OP states, it should work EXACTLY the way the signature works.
As a caveat to this can the developers chime in here and state whether or not this has been done deliberately to ensure that either individuals or teams do not use Nomad as a stand in gearset whilst their signature is on cooldown which would almost ensure that at least one extra life was available for every engagement.
