That's not correct. I in fact valued my money more than the game so i didn't buy it. But i'm still looking for other titles in the future.Originally Posted by HorTyS Go to original post
To pay twice the amount of the base game would only be worth it if you got twice the game.
Im sick of all these different editions, DLCs, Micro transactions, loot boxes etc....
I yearn for the olden days of you pay 50-60 dollars for a game, and it was complete. No add ons, no day one updates, nothing. You got a complete game, bugs and all. And the devs could immediately jump into developing the next game..
Even if it means taking an extra year or 2 to complete the game for launch. What the industry has been getting away with lately is outrageous, and it will eventually bite them in the butt.
Just look at the movie industry for example. They are seriously struggling, just announced they had the lowest box office revenue in well over 20 years. Why? They are pumping out garbage.
The game industry isnt far behind....
Im not saying FC5 looks like garbage, it actually looks fantastic, but all this dlc stuff is frustrating. If its being developed for the game, it should BE in the actual game, not pried off and sold separately.
Some companies are trying to monetize parts of a product and from a buyer perspective it may seem a greedy move but they have the right to do it because in the end they're not forcing the buyer in any way. You can't make a comparison to the past because hardware evolves, graphics evolve but marketing also evolves.
Governments want to legislate over this kind of things but that's not a good thing. What it should happen is that a private company should step in and monitor certain aspects to provide consumer protection - like for example specify any future monetization beside the usual product informations.

Whether you enjoy the content is subjective. I think it's a mistake to say FC4 does not offer the proper value for the money. OP has not said he did not enjoy FC4, he said "I feel I was burned spending the full price on Farcry4 and you dont get allot " which I feel is an inaccurate assessment of FC4. What else should they be giving us for the price? It simply seems to me that there are some unrealistic expectation as to how much we should get for the price we pay.
I don't have a problem with DLC in general, I just think very few developers do it properly. Most DLC is not worth the price of admission. If DLC comes out at $20, it should offer a level of content comparable to 1/3 of the base game. DLC as an idea is great, it allows for devs to make just that little bit more for the people who buy a game, love it and just want MORE sooner rather than later. It allows them to expand that world a little bit and give players a bit extra instead of immediately moving on to the next title and making us wait 2-3 years for a full sequel. For my money, one of the only devs to deliver true value in it's DLC has been CDPR with the Witcher 3's "Blood & wine" expansion. That expansion alone offered more value and quality content than many full priced titles.
I think it is a bit of an over-simplification to say that games and movies are suffering because of a lack of quality. It makes total sense that developers are looking for more ways to make money on their products when the cost to make the games has risen exponentially but the cost to buy them hasn't. Those "olden days" when we got a full game, day one? That game probably cost half or less to make, than an equivalent title in today's market, so obviously they need to find ways to make more money off that same release. Day one patches became a thing when the technology to make them possible became more prevalent. I think if there'd been a way to patch games day one on the playstation 2, there would've been day one patches on just as many games back then as well. I think it's important that the context of the situation for these things be taken into account. And the motion picture industry is facing more issues than simply bad movies. The way people consume their entertainment I would say is a much larger factor than the quality of the entertainment itself, but that is a whole other can of worms.
I'm not getting any special edition or anything of FC5. I'll wait to see what content we get with the season pass before deciding on if I think it's something I'll enjoy, but honestly what ever they offer will have to be fairly significant to garner my interest, I rarely buy DLC and I've never bought a lootbox or micro-transaction. I loved Horizon zero dawn but the frozen wilds didn't look like it was doing enough to convince me to buy it.
No arguement from me about the MP being terrible, but it was there and even if it's bad it adds some level of value to the product regardless of whether it was enjoyable or not, thats not the point. Just get the standard edition or don't get the game... it's your money, spend it on what you want, literally no one is forcing your hand...Originally Posted by LGz JETHRO66 Go to original post
