    [Suggestion][Customization] Loadouts changing performance

I know I haven't been around here for long, and most suggestions have been ruled as "not in the vision" but I just had a thought.

I realize the outfit changes are all cosmetic and have no bearing on the performance of the character, especially with the upgrading mechanism which increases ammo capacity and the like but an interesting idea I haven't seen in another game that I can recall :
Have the loadouts change how your character behaves.

Either have the position an number of pouches customizable with different positions offering different speeds of reloading or overall weight changing how fast or far you can run. Want to sprint for ages and reload quickly? You get a small chest rig with 3 mags. You want to carry 16 magazines? Some are in hard to reach spaces and slow down your reloads. Want more grenades? Then you need to double up some pouches or sacrifice some magazine space.

They have the larger magazines on the rifles change the handling or even accuracy of the guns so it is something they have at least partially considered.

I would have loved it, but no chance they are even going to think about this for this GR. With luck it might be considered for the next one, but to me (based on all other games I saw over the years) loadout features are among the first ones to be cut short and simplified.

Guess I am one of the few who acctually enjoys this part of missions - get the loadout right. One of the things I loved about Jagged Alliance 2 1.13 mods - when they added molle systems to individualize the gear to fit each mercs' needs. Something like that + Hidden & Dangerous 2's campaign inventory on an open map like GRW and I would be as happy as I can be about the strategic part of the game... just the tactical left to get right :P

Which is so odd. It's one of the simplest things to programme from a gameplay perspective and such an obvious choice for GR. The only rationale I could think of for this omission is that the decision went in favour of players wanting a certain look without paying the penalty. The Tier 1 system was the opportunity for this to change so I think you're right that we won't see it in Wildlands, but it's worth asking for in GR Next.

Yeah, I think it has a lot to do with the majority of players rather accepting smooth gameplay than mircomanagment. I guess it is more sexy to customize the weapon than your bergen/harness Also looking at games like Arma where the community keeps adding realistic features, I have yet to see a mod that gives more depth to where and how you pack your things. As I said I am probably the odd one here looking for these features

But also one of the reasons customizing vests isn't really high on dev team prio lists is the work that comes with that for the character art department. Its a lot easier to add hard stuff to weapons since they don't get affected by animations/deformations, while anything added to the character needs skinning/rigging adjustments and often ends up looking bad with clipping issues if not done properly.

Yeah I wasn't really under any impression it would actually make it into this game. I was just putting it out there.

They don't even need to make it individually adjustable. Want high speed low drag? Grab the Molle harness for faster reloading with less overall mags. Want grenades? Take the Heavy vest... IIRC the original Rainbow Six series of games let you chose heavy/medium/light armour didn't it?

In the game your mag pouches change depending on your primary equipped guns.

They let you micro manage the guns, which is nice but has been done roughly a trillion times before. Sure there is a slight improvement of the vertical grip 1 vs the 4 but every chest rig is the same? Lazy at the worst and a missed opportunity at best, IMHO.

The ability is inherent in the game with the medals and abilities allowing you to increase the number of items one can carry.

I honestly don't want to have clothing/equipment affecting camo in this game, but I would have loved to have a proper loadout/armor feature that included the vests. The way it is now, based on skills with absurd numbers of items really doesn't fit any 'authentic' gamedesign. I get it that they want to keep the look of the ghosts completely up to the players, but it severely lacks depth to the point where it affects gameplay. You don't need the other 3 ghosts, neither the human players, nor the completely useless AI mates, since you have everything on yourself with plenty to spare. You can finish all the missions in a region without ever needing to go to camp to re-stock even without picking up ammo from dead bodies.
