    PVP for a beginner

    Dear all,

I've played The Division for some time now but never invested time into the PVP side of the game.
I recently joined a game of Skirmish just to try it out and was met with a bit of confusion.
My character didnt seem to do any dps at all, it felt as if I was healing my oponents instead of hurting them.
What am I doing wrong? I have pretty good aim and I do OK in most shooters (around 2 - 3 KD avarage).
But for some reason I only seem to aid the enemy team when playing this game.

    My build:
    3p Predator
    2p Nomad
    Ninja Backpack

    Weapon:
    M4 focused on crit

Please give me some advice, I want to like the game.

    Kind regards,
    Nybbee

I'm not a PvP'er, but I'll say that Nomad isn't a huge help in PvP. You're better off with something else, I'm guessing.

Gonna need some more info on your build, specifically what your firearms, stamina, and electronics rolls are, as well as what skills you are using. Division PvP is about so much more than just picking a good gun and some gear pieces.

The best starting point for learning PvP is in the Dark Zone.

Lesson 1: Find some helpful strangers and ask them to watch your back while you load your loot onto the rope.

You will learn the most important and valuable lesson in the game.

Change 1 piece of Nomad to Strikers for the stability and your Predator bleed will be easier to achieve. Maybe look at changing the other piece of Nomad for something else, like Final Measure. Other than that, just keep practicing. The people who are really good at PvP are going to destroy you either way. Just keep trying until you find a way to be effective. I play Last Stand for that and while I still suck at PvP, I've gotten better, or at least less useless.

Step 1 - Equip a high RPM weapon (House or M4)
Step 2 - Learn to strafe (this should take you about 30 seconds or so because it requires no skill whatsoever)
Step 3 - Learn to aim for the body at less than 5 metres/feet (Massive don't want to make this too difficult for you so DON'T ever aim for the head)
    Step 4 - Combine Steps 1, 2 & 3

Congratulations, you are now good at PVP in The Division.

The great thing in 1.8 is that Massive have given you a huge dps boost (Predator's Mark/Striker) or huge health boost (Nomad) so that you don't need to waste any of your precious stats on silly, pointless things like Firearms or Electronics.

Now all you need to do is go buy some emotes and repeat the phrase "On the floor".

You are now officially ready to become a youtuber or twitch streamer.

Here is how I handled PVP in a looting game:

Once my friends moved on to another game and I was forced to DZ solo, I started getting killed too often. I decided to play Last Stand, and was able to fine tune my build better and was able to get in more "fair" battles. Once I started getting 16+ kills regularly in LS, I decided to try out the DZ again. What I noticed is that I was able to PVP with any on 1v1, and sometimes was able to 1v2, which is all I really wanted to be able to do.

Being that this is my first looter game, and don't play 8 hours a day, it is tough to gage you build by only having sporadic4v1 PVP encounters in the DZ.

Here's my suggestion for a PVP build.

If you've managed across the Striker, Nomad, Banshee, Predator or Lonestar Classified 6 pieces these are probably the most solo friendly builds right now. Striker and Nomad have amazing survivability in farming the DZ and against rogue agents. They also wreck in Last Stand. Predator when fighting against novices will hurt anyone who doesn't cleanse that bleed.

If you don'e have a full 6 piece your Ninja build can work. But you're going to be at a sever disadvantage due to having to be a jack of all trades type situation.

    2 pred
    2 banshee
    1 tac
    Ninja Bag

This is probably the most popular build prior to the new classifieds. It has max skill haste, up to 18% additional SMG or AR damage and can still be firearms focused. You may want to sub out mask for refreshed, but, that 50% skill haste wins gunfights.

    Unfortunately you're never going to succeed against a full fireteam of dedicated players. Unless you're going in with a full 100% striker stack and you melt them one by one. So my suggestions;

    1. you're gonna get ganked. a lot.
    2. if you solo the DZ, the higher tiers often are farmed quickly and teams up there are very territorial.
    3. last stand is amazing for straight PVP and to gauge yourself in a more fair environment.
    4. last stand normalizes gear down to 1200. Beware that if you have a min/maxed build on some classifieds they may not work due to your 1400 being dropped to 1200.
    5. Unless you're running a build that natively regens health, invest enough electronics into a decent heal. Running a solo glass cannon is a death sentence. Especially in DZ.
