It's simple. I would really REALLY like it if we could customize our AI teammates while playing offline. I dont always have friends on and i would like to have my team looking the way I want them to. Also would be cool if you could edit which guns they use according to class.

Like one is heavy one is long range and one is close range.

Two of the most prominent request, as you could have seen if you would have taken the time to look around the forum. Also Ubisoft made it clear that they won't do it since it doesn't fit their vision, no matter how often we request these features. Sadly.

I don't understand the reason for most of the decisions regarding this game. More people would buy the cosmetic packs if they could use them to customize their AI teammates, and more people would buy the SP DLC if they could use those guns in the vanilla campaign.

But "muh vision" seems to make more monetary sense...

I can't think of any technical limitation as the game runs co-op with any of the custom options selected by your friends. The decision seems to be style based in that the Devs want to enforce the sense of co-op play; you can't customise appearance, load out or control their actions to any great degree. Having said that though, they then can't fly and drive which is contrary to that.
