I've notice a lot of comments about the urban MDR and for some reason I just never have gotten one, even after 400+ hours/11 months play. Where do you get it and what's so great about it? Is it the base 330 damage? (ref http://divisionfieldguide.com/weapon-item/urban-mdr/ )
I generally haven't found much luck low RPM assault rifles and find burst rifles too slow when facing a group of NPCs or team in LS
is it irrelevant now with the new 1.8 exotic weapons?
It's a Marksman Rifle is all it is, but it's classified as an Assault Rifle. One shot per click, works exactly like a DMR. Holds 45ish rounds with extended mags though. It pairs up well if you can apply status effects, as it gets a 18% damage boost to targets with one
Also got mine from Barrett, same as most people. But they apparently drop from other bosses also
Is it worth it? Depends how you play and what builds you use.
It hits hard. Maybe harder than any other weapon in the game aside from the marksman rifles like the M800 or M44. But as toxic said, it's a semi auto so it's one bullet per click. If you're quick on the trigger it is really effective. If you struggle with that repetitive action, then it's not going to work as well for you.
Most people use it with their Sentry builds because it's a good primary weapon that allows marking of the target.
Like most semi-automatic weapons, you will want to apply Rate of Fire and Reload mods to get the most out of it. If you're using Sentry, then you'll want to mod it with Headshot damage mods as a priority.
Personally, it's not my favorite gun but it's the one I use most because Six-Piece Sentry is my favorite build in the game.
I use one with my Nomad 6 piece skill build, with Talented, intense and distracted. Its great for long shops against enemies who are bleeding or on fire. Wrecks groups easily. It looses out to the M4 at closer range. I've been practising with it big time and the semi auto nature takes some getting used to if you've previously had full auto.
It's my favourite gun in game so far, but its taken me a month to get used to it properly (I'm old ;-)
