    Dark Zone is back boys!!

Update 1.8 has brought the dark zone back to what I used to love way back in 1.0/1.1.

For the first time in a very long time Dtech is what everyone wants. I'm running my old Dtech routes and finding boxes already cleared! It's actually exciting to find that room with 4 Dtech boxes that hasn't been hit yet or extracting 9 sealed caches knowing you just banked a good 20+ Dtech.

For the first time in a long time I see an extraction go off and feel that urge to kill the players or hijack hoping they drop classifieds or Dtech caches. Having other players actually farming in the DZ has brought it back to what it used to be, what it was meant to be. PvE with optional PvP. When I see another agent I actually don't know if they're going to go rogue, help me out or just keep moving and ignore me completely. Rogue 2.0 has brought some changes for sure and having 2 dedicated PvP modes has definitely helped the game in general. But I think the real difference in the DZ is simply from Dtech being extremely useful for the first time in 2 years. Players that normally wouldn't bother with the DZ are back and it's not just a very strange 20 player pvp party at the checkpoint.

Once again the DZ is a place where you have no idea what will happen. You could get a ton of loot in a short time or you could get hijacked at every extraction. You can play for hours without seeing another player or you could end up PvPing all night. This is the DZ I know and love.

A bit of a side note on a related topic, the change to stamina has made my farming build quite a bit tougher and solo clearing land marks is a lot less of a chore now.

In what way is PvP optional?!? You're all excited about hijacking someone's loot - PvP is not optional for your victim.

I don't mind roaming the DZ if the stakes are low, but if I have something I want and I lost it (AKA my time) to another player.... what's the point of even playing?

Officially (ie according to Massive) PVP in the DZ is optional, but yeah for victims it isn't. When you run, but fail to get away, it isn't optional

Next stop 'protected loot' when you die.....

it's only edgy when you're solo.... always has been that way. I never felt any tension in a group.

It's the dark zone dude. If you don't want to risk PvP - don't extract. Nobody is forcing you to go in. Not even the dev. Yes you can get all of the same materials and drops in various other places in the game.

If you want the big kahuna of gear and drops - then you have to DZ.

If you can't handle that - don't enter.

Or as I love to say - Git Gud.

F that. That literally kills the entire DZ. PvE only plebs have the LZ, wave fights, survival, underground, and missions to get gear. The DZ is a lawless place that is high risk high reward. If you can't handle it after 2 years of playing - you have been doing it wrong the entire time.

This is why people quit . Or as I love to say - Git Gone.

Plus... the point was that PvP is not optional. The DZ is optional.

The Devs are actively making more changes to the DZ to make it more PvE friendly. As was stated in the last SotG, the player behavior numbers (PvE/PvP) are not balanced in the DZ.
Adding DTech will help in the short term. However, if PvE'ers find that it's not worth their time to risk loosing a bunch of caches to another player, the current up tick in activity will not last long.
The DZ will turn back into a mostly PvP zone.

That's totally true, PVP is so exciting in DZ. Grinding PVE builded solo player with 4 man pvp builded team, how exciting it is.

Na kidding, sorry to tell you that but there a no PVP in DZ since 1.1... it's only group ganking solo player. PVP player ganking PVE builded player.

PVP mean player vs player, not player shooting in the back someone strugguling with NPC's.

Do you find any challenge when a group of 4 is hunting to death someone playing solo with a ****ty build, doing that until he leave DZ?
If yes, I think your life must be really empty.

Exactly, there is very little actual PVP in the DZ
