Perfect response to this ridiculous thread!

    Ok, it just got worse.

Trying to discredit a gameplay choice by relating it to human psyche without evidence isn't an objective opinion and contributes nothing.
It's lame that you get salty enough about a game that you resort to posting about your suspicions of serial killers wasting time on video games.

I think being able to mark 1 item as "favorite" so it never drops public could be good. It will help people who struggle to progress to extract that 1 specific item that is finally an upgrade (for instance you need 1 specific final piece to get a full 6p classified set and it finally drops after weeks and weeks).

I can see that point, but the choice was made before that, you could search your missing 6 piece in different locations in the game, OR you can try and up your chances of finding it in the DZ, with added risk of having to fight for it.

It's literally the trade off; farm slow and save, or farm quick with added risk.

Or don't farm at all because they pulled the plug on the game because only a tiny fraction of players enjoy the DZ as it is now. Need proof? 97% of players lost in the first few months with DZ as the endgame.

I fail to see proof. Are you telling me 97% of the playerbase wouldn't have left if we had a PvE Darkzone from the start?

IMHO the DZ is a significant part of the problem, but it doesn't explain the full 97% number.

Some players would have played the story and moved on; some would have bought, not enjoyed and move on. Some of them wouldn't like the PVE, some wouldn't like the lack of PVP.

However the toxicity that goes on around the DZ, players getting enticed there to be ganked, all the complaining..... has had a significant impact. The 43% that left the 5 straight weeks the weekly required 30 items being extracted is a significant impact driven by the DZ. Adding cutting the rope, extending the extraction timers, the leaderboards that encourage Rogue activities, nerfs to weapons and talents to balance PVP.... has had a major impact on the PVE sub community.

But don't forget the lack of adding story (the story hasn't progressed since release), expanding the map, no real PVP until Skirmish (Last Stand was close), 1.4 and the Bullet Sponge enemies and the exponentially more powerful NPC'S.... have all had impacts too.

The sad part is this is a great game, the shooting is great, the skills are great, there is a deep story, the environment is awesome and detailed, they've added great modes like Survival, Underground, Resistance, they've added a PVP Focused mode in Last Stand and a PVP only mode in Skirmish.

The Toxicity is the biggest problem, if they made a PVE DZ like we've been asking for, it would go a long way to separating the PVE players from the Toxic PVP gankers. Which would lower the toxicity. If they extended the story to add to the new activities, it would give PVE players a reason to come back.

Pve player here, 1900 hours 95% solo DZ 15k plus extract items, I really don't see what's the problem here. The reason they have things like this is bring players together. If I never extracted I would never see another player. I know there are players on the map as caches and landmarks are getting cleared.

I really like the tension of the DZ playing solo, extracting items and cutting the rope increase that tension.. I think if you haven't played the DZ for sometime you should give it a try now there are pve players all over the place.

Not atm, the drop chances in the LZ for Classifieds are literally non existant.

I've said this before, the RNG in this game is a problem. Having to grind isn't an issue, having the DZ being a shorter grind is also not an issue, but the RNG is problematic at times.

I can only speak to my experience... At launch, I was playing with around 15 players (most from a league I belonged to).
They all quit because the DZ was the main end-game and PvP effected the leveling and gear acquisition process.
Essentially the DZ made TD a primarily PvP game (just after launch)

The DZ needs to be further changed so that PvP does not effect progress (loot acquisition). We are almost 360° back to that same post-launch situation again. This time with Classified gear, DTech and new exotics. If the DZ is the primary source for end-game players to earn useful loot, it will turn PvE players away for the game again.
