Thoughts of a frustrated player
I really, really wanted to stay invested in this game. I fully understand it is new and things could change. And if so, I would maybe look into coming back, but currently, there are just so many things that are discouraging in this game. From quality of life to balance issues. Couple things I would suggest maybe looking into:
- Forced PvP: I entered this game with several friends. I am the only one left based on it being mandatory to play PvP to progress in the story mode. Whoever thought this would be fun seriously is out of touch with the gamer community.
- Obvious struggles as FtP: I have a ton of the characters and I am not saying this is pay to win, but some of the obvious disadvantages as I enter single digit ranks are crazy. The levels of the characters. I have been playing almost daily and am so far behind the level curve of characters. I was going to pay money into playing, but if I got even higher and hit the same frustration, I would snap my phone.
- More frequent balancing: Tron Stan, Nathan, Choir Boy Butters etc.. I am not sure what kind of tracking Ubisoft does, but you have to see the exact some characters being played over and over again. When a game is new, you would think there would be more attention to the meta. Finding decent responses from Ubisoft concerning this is even a struggle.
The UI: Navigating the UI is a pain. It is simple enough to pick up, sure, but is a little fluid movement or ease of access too much to ask for?
Crashes/Recovery: Moving between screens that need to load too quickly seems to crash out the game. The first time I went to spend money, I crashed between transitions. At this point, I'm fairly happy it did, as it made me question my purchase and hold off. I get limited time to play, and when I have to spend a portion of that rebooting the game several times, it very much becomes a "why bother" type of feeling.
There are a few other things that don't make sense to me while playing, but that could just be growing pains of learning the game, so I wont put too much into it. However, it would be great to understand how targeting for some characters works or why 2 characters can just walk by each other. The "lanes" seem so random.
I LOVE the IP and hope things get worked out. It saddens me to see my kids so excited to play something then hit the same frustrations. Take the feedback to heart or with a grain of salt. Some may agree, others may bash. Comment as you see fit. I'm new to the community so not fully sure how much of this has been brought up.
Cheers!
