Is the gear stats really showing correctly? | Forums

I'm looting a lot of gear which has says that if I change to that item it goes to 0.0% (→0.0%) even though the bar shows it's just a small down grade.

This seems to be happening to mostly where there is a down grade, f.e. when the bar turns red.

Is this because the stat is reduced to zero because it can't be negative? In that case I think the bar should go to zero as well. Or am I thinking backwards here?

Not entirely sure what exactly you mean but stats can also be negative of course. 0 is just the standard character value. Most things are displayed correctly but some bars (of the new stat pieces) are clearly bugged

I'm pretty sure the devs said that defense penetration cannot be negative (it only goes down to zero), yet you get a red bar below 0% and it can show as a negative value on an item.

I think you are mixing some things up. Your two post seemed to be two different topics

First of all, to clarify, the defence penetration stat can go below zero! Of course. You can check that out on your items as well (apparently you've done that already). The thing what the devs (Damien to be exact) said was that with defence penetration you CANNOT place somebody with a low(er) defence value UNDER 0%. This stat is only there to neutralize most or even all of the defence values of your opponent.

On the other hand if you have a negative defence penetration stat it does not give your opponent that value as additional defence.So effectively yes, defence penetration is in this case apparently 0% but it will never show as such on the items

btw this could in general mean that there is a change between gear stat types and thus each stat has a different kind of increasement rate. Hence changing to a type of gear that has a lower increasment rate that would be a downgrade.

Look at those gear types that give a small increase on everything. If you upgrade them, the improvement you are getting for each upgrade is always mediocre, sometimes in certain stats even non-existent for one or two levels, whilst on other pieces you get a much better increase per upgrade.

what you also need to consider here is

1. is that new item you've looted the same level as the one you have equipped
2. are you talking about low-level gear (i. e. blue tier)?
