I've been doing that for the past week daily and haven't noticed any change in any territory, none that I can spot at least. It's still all grey to me. What is it about other than maybe decorating some maps by the winning faction? does it deploy more troops during Dominion? if so, if I am Knight Faction, and I've contributed a lot into Faction War, and boosted the number of troops, and in a 4v4 match against three who are Knight Faction, and I'm with two Viking Faction and one Samurai Faction, did I boost my enemy's troops and make it harder on myself?

How does a Faction win a war? by taking more territories? how? I don't see which spots really need defending and which spots are ripe for the taking. I do both actions absent-mindedly. I keep planting war banners and deploying troops and I don't see how I'm contributing to the war, but I just know it's better to do it manually that let the game automatically assign troops.

I'd appreciate if I'm given some information or link that explains in-depth how Faction War works, it bugs me a tad bit that there's some major chunk of the game I do not yet fully understand.
It all comes down to which faction has the highest number of troops on a territory at the end of the rounds claims that piece of land. Then which ever faction has the most pieces of land at the end of the campaign wins. You get a reward for your factions placement. This repeats 5 times. Whichever faction wins the most out of those five times wins the season and is rewarded an exclusive ornament and some boxes.

Looking at the map you will see numbers on the territory like -5k that means your team is losing that piece by 5000 troops. Also you will see flashing shields and sword icons I think these are “hot spots” where a large number of people on your team are placing their war banners.

So simply put it’s a battle of numbers, whichever team has the most wins.

Thanks a lot for the response! It's a bit clearer now, so all this thing is for like 3 scavenger crates and 1 ornament every 3-4 months? still good, seeing as scavenger crates are hard to come by, but then again, you get the better loot by playing matches rather than popping crates open, so I dunno. I don't know about ornaments, I personally only like 4-5 of them on the Warden; I don't like every ornament and I sure would like to see my upcoming reward ornament if my faction wins the Faction War, but I know that's impossible. And that's if I get a Warden ornament; no telling which hero you'll get an ornament for, right? like the tournaments?

I've yet to win my first tournament and here's hoping I unlock a Warden ornament...

The winners get an ornament for every hero, also forgot to mention you also get special borders for your emblems to.

I think of the faction war as more of a side mini game to do in between matches

The point really isn't the rewards. It's about the fantasy of the game. Which is 3 iconic warrior types from history fighting each other.
If you don't care about the fantasy of course it's not going to be appealing to you.

well it's certainly better now, Arbitrary faction war is still arbitrary.

until there is some kind of faction locked game mode that decides the faction war, I'm really not interested.

Why should people be locked into their faction in order to take part? I have five characters in rep 7 gear, ok, three of them are in my faction,I took the other two to fit specific roles as I play a lot of 4v4 and those were the two I played best with to fit those roles. I have spent 50-70 hours game time on each of those characters, why should my time with them or any other character mean less than the other three?

Some people choose to only play characters in their own faction, that is their choice, but they do not get to define my choices. There should be nothing telling me that I cannot play twelve of the characters or not take part in the full game if I like characters among those twelve.

i'm in the same boat, i have been Knights from day 1. but of course i use other faction heroes too. but i don't have a problem with adding a faction locked mode, it doesn't stop you from playing the other factions.

hell even if they gave you more assets for playing your own faction, it would be slightly better then it is now.

i just personally see no point in a faction war mode, that really has nothing to do with the faction you play, and is more about how many of that faction there are. i mean even if i'm winning ever game i'm playing, i might be the only knight on my team, which means i'm helping the other factions get more assets, well potentially denying more assets to the knights on the other team, Faction War has absolutely nothing to do with an actual faction war. it's pointless fluff.

You can now easily see which territories are close. That makes all the difference. Before I would dump assets into what I thought was a close territory at 51%-49% not knowing that, in reality, my faction was -500k. Now I can see one territory that is -500k and one that is -20k and appropriately deploy assets. Before both would have just been 51-49.

I like it better now. It feels more like a faction war than factions tides.

If they could do something where unless you are grouped with someone from another faction, you play team modes with people from your own faction I would have no beef with that, makes sense for the reasons you stated, but I am very against anything that says if I play my rep 7 valkyrie or nobushi if my team need a disabler or soldier killer, I get less level up or asset rewards than playing my peacekeeper, warden or conqueror, I put the time into those characters, I should get equal reward when using them.

Now of course I could finish levelling my gladiator and I could put time into levelling up lawbringer and centurion and I have all the roles covered there, I might well when there are dedicated servers and I don't need to grind against ai, but I shouldn't be punished for playing characters I like which is essentially what a faction locked mode (if you mean that in terms of characters) or reward for playing characters in your faction, which conversely means I am not getting as much for playing other characters, does.
