Locked 30 or 60fps without stuttering or tearing?

    Hi Guys,

I'm trying to figure out how to get a smooth gameplay experience, either at 30 or 60fps locked. I have a Titan X (Pascal) and I'm playing on a 4K OLED TV. I can get a mostly locked 60fps that is decent when using Nvidia's Adative VSYNC. Unfortunately the occasions when the game dips below 60 are stuttery and nasty. Worse than the 50-something FPS should be. So I want to go for a locked and smooth 30fps like the consoles but I can't get a decent 30FPS experience.

None of the in-game VSYNC or FPS lock options or combinations provide a smooth gameplay experience so once again I try Nvidia's adaptive sync. For whatever reason the same places where the game would dip into the 50's when I have it set to 60, it dips into the teens when I have it set to 30. I've certainly got enough GPU and CPU grunt to handle 30, as evidenced by a solid 50+fps when set to 60. So why can't I get a locked and smooth 30? Seems to be a software bug?

If I have it set to 60 the advanced stats show my GPU render time go north of 16ms into the 20's and it stutters
With the exact same settings but locked at 30fps at the same places my GPU render time goes way above 33 into to 60s!

This isn't a resource issue, doesn't matter my settings or resolution scale.

I just want a consistent, smooth experience.

I remember on black flag you could force triple buffering with a DirectX hack and get a smooth experience. Is something like that needed here?

    That's strange.

I also have a Titan X and the game runs smooth and steady at ca. 40 fps (even in Alexandria) on 4K with Ingame 45 fps lock and AA adaptive.
I do have triple buffering ON on NVIDIA Control Panel.

Even a few fps more if I OC it via MSI Afterburner.

It does run on 99% load all the time but that's ok as I have Water cooling so the temps never rise above 36-38°C

I did move ACO from my Raid Array to a SSD but to tell you the truth I don't see such difference while playing.

Thanks for the feedback! Triple buffering from the Geforce panel makes a huge difference! There still seems to be no way to get a locked 30fps. Hopefully it's a bug that gets fixed.

Just out of curiosity, if you're on a 60Hz display, why go for the locked 45? Seems to me like even 30 would be better than 45 at 60Hz?
