Hi,
I did a search and I seem to be finding lots of topics that indicate it's working properly if you deflect someone and they recovery instantly and smack you in the face?
I find deflecting more risky and difficult then parry but parry being more rewarding. Shouldn't you have enough time to at least get a light attack in when you deflect?
I may be bias but from my own personal experience with double sticks and knights when I parry I will usually counter which is slower then if I deflect. When I deflect I'm usually attacking almost at the same time with more risk to my hand or whatever.
Seriously - been testing it. I can test again as a zerker just to compare but when I do it with shaman it seems like they are not affected at all. I don't even see the animation change as far as the deflected. It seems like I do my animation and they just ignore it.
I'll wait until I have some friends on line and test a bunch with different classes to compare. Thanks.
When it happened to me it was def NOT zone attacks. It was light attacks and even side heavy attacks AFTER I deflected and their animation for their attacks started BEFORE my deflect animation was even over.
Deflect by itself does nothing to the enemy. They'll be able to keep going kind of like an uninterrupted block. Every assassin except zerker has to follow the deflect with an input, and depending on the assassin, you have little time to decide what needs to be done. E.g. If you deflect an attack and their next attack has hyperarmor or comes out super fast, you're likely to get hit if your deflect input doesn't also have hyperarmor.
deflecting an attack on any assassin doesn't stop them from doing something. The only exception to this is berzerker because she grabs automatically. every other assassin has to dodge into it to get the deflect animation and as soon as that animation plays you hit light attack for your special deflect attack.Originally Posted by S8Canadian Go to original post
I tested 50 or 60 times with various different assassins vs assassins. it did seem to behave differently especially a upward deflect. It could be just the classes I'm going up against online though too. The other new class for example and the lawbringer. Prehaps they can recover faster.
The berserker deflect which I'm most used to does seem superior but I guess that is normal. It would be good to know exactly how it compared recovery time wise to peacekeeper and others from dev. I was able to land the special deflect move every time with peacekeeper against shaman. I was also able to just spam heavy overhead and land them without being interrupted against shaman but perhaps I he wasn't doing it fast enough?
I'll give it a try more against various classes in pvp. Thanks. I guess I thought those moves would land for sure like the berserkers side heavy from deflect
Deflect times will differ with both the hero deflecting, and the hero and type of attack thrown out. Like Raime said, the deflect itself is only going to mitigate the damage give, you have to follow it up with an attack yourself(not including berserker)
The timing on this is extremely tight, you can do both simultaneously, instead of waiting for the deflect animation, just press your respective attack button the second you go to deflect.
Berzerker's side heavy connects from deflect because you Guard break the opponent automatically when deflecting.Originally Posted by S8Canadian Go to original post
i'm unaware if the timings on other deflects for their special attacks vary at all. For me it's always felt the same. But i'll write you a handly list on what is guaranteed for each assassin if you deflect:
Berzerker=gb which is done automatically.
Shinobi=bleed damage on every deflect. You can press light as well which does more damage.
Peacekeeper=bleed poke by pressing light.
Orochi= light attack.
Shaman=bleed poke by pressing light.
Gladiator=bleed poke by pressing light.
If you're not getting those attacks in after you deflect it's 100% your timing. To my knowledge there is never a case when deflecting an attack is different depending on what attack you deflected. The only time someone should be able to hit you even after you've deflected is if it's a multi hit attack. like zerkers zone. as deflecting unlike parrying doesn't stop the person attacking. It merely prevents you from taking damage from the attack and allows you a special attack in the process.
