I started playing a few days ago & have spent money on this game however this evening when I open the app it starts from the opening scene. How can I get back to my previous progress?

In the same boat. I played a lot yesterday, and now all that progress is gone and I’m reset to the beginning.
How do we get that back?

Same here... just filed a support ticket regarding this issue. Seems like it's happening to everyone though so hopefully they'll address this problem immediately.

Well as crappy as it is... It is quite relieving to come here to see the same issues instead of being the only one. So yes, hopefully they will resolve soon.
