Hi,
So I though I give For Honor a try in the free weekend. Unfortunately, I couldn't make it work.
The symptoms:
The game crashed or hanged in various ways:
- during loading initial screen, both hang and crash happened
- during benchmarking or just playing the very beginning of the campaign
- the furthest I could get it work is to start a campaign, quit to menu, restart the campaign. Getting to the menu for the 2nd time never worked
- sometimes I could kill the process after crash/hang, sometimes a system restart was required to clean it
- occasionally, it complained about the GPU driver crashing, hinting also some overlay software. More on this later, but I don't use any extra overlay software other than the Uplay client itself which runs the game
My system/environment:
- AMD Ryzen 1600X / 16GB RAM / R9 Nano 4GB / ASUS MG279Q monitor w FreeSync
- System is on C (SSD), game is installed on D (MS Storage Space, 2x1TB HDD, mirrored)
- Windows 10 x64 Creator's update, (latest patches)
- Tried multiple VGA drivers: 17.11.1, 17.2.1, 17.7.2 - all behaved the same
- Multiple configurations of the game: low to extreme, windowed/borderless/full screen, with or without FreeSync/V-Sync, different refresh rate, limiting GPU performance, power plans, etc. No change in overall behavior
- Capable of running other recent titles without any issue on high quality settings (Doom, Dark Souls 3, Deus Ex, Battlefield 1, but even Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon: Wildlands with the same game egine) as well as older titles (Crysis 3, Dragon Age: Inquisition)
Now the "catch 22" is that I guess to progress with troubleshooting I would need to buy the game, but given the above errors hard to make that call. Dxdiag and msinfo is available on request, if that would help.
