You should be more genrious with materials and in-game currency from card packs and lockers. You are being too greedy and it will kill the game.
Another BIG problem imo. is that you can not replay single player missions that you have already completed. If my team is not strong enough to handle the current episode level, then I'm stuck playing PvP.
That in itself wouldn't be too bad if it wasn't for the extreme cooldown on packs rewarded, as well as the locker cooldown. You are pretty much forcing people to stop playing the game. Where is the logic in that?
Also you are too greedy with the material resources and ingame currency. I have to wait 4 hours to open a free pack that gives me 42 gold, 1 cash, 1 material and a single card. Is that worth 4 hours of waiting - hardly!
I did buy the golden pack for real money and even that was disappointing. The epic I got was Storyteller Timmy which I had already, and is the most common epic from my experience. I also got a couple of worthless common, and then I got 4 Kyle of the Drow Elves (rare), which was "alright". But you would think that when you spend a decent amount of real money, you would get something satisfying in return. I can safely say I did not, and I told my friend NOT to waste his money.
All in all, I am mostly happy with the gameplay, but the greed is slowly killing the game for me. I think you would have a broader appeal and a greater user experience, if you would be more generous. You would probably get a larger player base and keep players in the game for longer, which would earn you more cash in the long run.
I for one am not sure how much longer I can keep playing this game, when it's just a endless pointless grind (WEEE 1$ from a locker COOL STORY BRO).
Instead I should just be able to enjoy making strategies and play with my friend, who is now a LOONG way from catching up to me, which prevents a fair match-up. We will probably go back to Hearthstone soon, unless something changes.
Anyway that is my feedback, and so far I have enjoyed the experience, especially the story elements *wink*. I would just hate to see the potential of this game go to waste. And sure there will always be people who will be playing this no matter what. Good on you guys, but I have plenty of other games to play and spend money on.. give me a reason to stay.
I agree with everything that's said. Price of packs are either too high or the rewards are too little. The way the game is designed now you will eventually hit a hard paywall for materials and coins which you will need to then spend cash for miniscule amount. I'm already fast approaching that point and when it costs 15 silver materials for one upgrade, i don't think I'll be able to keep up for long.
Yes, the packs are very highly priced, especially if you compare it to Hearthstone and other card-collection games (although Phone Destroyer offers more ways to get free cards).
I don't have the price in dollars so I can only estimate, but the cheapest premium package (disregarding the material-only package) cost like ~5$, which isn't much better than a PvP-package. The gold-package cost like 7$, which includes only one epic, which won't get you far. I also don't get the pricing for the most expensive pack; 3 gold-packs gives you 45 cards, 12 rares and 3 epics, 2100 coins and 45 upgrade-items and cost a total of 2100 in-game cash. One of the most expensive packs gives you 35 cards, 10 rares, 3 epics, 2000 coins and 65 upgrade items for 2500. So three gold packages has (non-arguably?) better value, as the only pro it has is that it gives you 20 more upgrade items. Premium packs is without a doubt the worst way to spend in-game cash in my opinion.
As I said in my opening post, those free packs every 4 hours are next to worthless. This like saying that McDonalds has FREE fries, and then they hand you 1 single piece of french fry. Feels bad right? At first I also thought it was pretty great, and was excited about opening them. That was until I realized how meaningless they are. When you get into the Fantasy zone and your cards are starting to reach into level 3, then it becomes apparent. You have probably not reached that far, which is why you haven't noticed yet.Originally Posted by vincenttnecniv Go to original post
Here is what you can exspect from the free packs, in 4 days of playing, which is how long I have been playing (and that is assuming that you log in and get all packs)
I just opened this one just now, which is pretty respresentive of the average pack you can exspect.
Lets do the math:
6 packs in a day in 4 days = 24 packs.
Average free pack payout: 48x Cash, 2x materials, 1x common card
Total amount of stuff from packs in 4 days:
24 * average pack = 1152x Cash , 48x materials, 24x common cards.
Assuming that you get lucky once or twice, you might get a couple of rares and a epic.
Still, this is not a lot when you reach the later stages of the game.
And as for the PvP lockers... yes they are pretty okay, but lets dig a little deeper.
You need to win in order to get 3 lockers.
Lets say that a game lasts 10 minutes (I did not take time or anything - just an approximation).
AND you need to open the right lockers - lets say you open on average 1x correct locker each time.
Lets say that the best result from a locker is: 200 PvP tickets OR 1 card of random quality OR 5 Materials.
The 2 other lockers would only get us: 1 material (for this calculation I'm just gonna go with 1 mat)
Lets say that you play for 4 hours, and you have a 50% win-rate. You will get:
Time: 4 hours -> 240 minutes
After winrate: 240 * 0.5 = 120 minutes
After game time: 120 / 10 = 12 wins
Amount of lucky lockers: 12
Amount of unlucky lockers: 12 * 2 = 24
Stuff from lucky lockers: ( we divide our winnings into 3 parts, because we assume that we get an even spread of rewards tickets/cards/materials).
12 / 3 = 4
4 * 200 tickets = 800 tickets
4 * 1 card = 4 cards
4 * 5 materials = 20 materials
Stuff from unlucky lockers is simple:
24 lockers * 1 material = 24 materials (DUH)
Total amount of stuff from PvP lockers in a 4 hour gaming session:
[B]800 PvP tickets, 4 cards and 42 materials.
The amount of tickets is not half bad, but 4 cards and 42 materials for 4 hours of my life? Nope
Lets see how long it would take you to get all 10 cards needed to get a card from level 2 up to level 3, using ONLY PvP lockers.
For simplicities sake (and in our favor, because it limits the card pool a bit), lets say that we only get common cards.
There are 25 common cards in the game, and you need to land get the correct card out of the 25 in the card pool (4% change).
Level 2 requires 10 cards.
So you would need to go through 250 cards to get all 10 that you need.
You get 1 card from 1 hour of play-time in PvP.
So you would need 250 hours = 10 days of playing to get the cards needed to level a specific common card from level 2 to level 3 (not accounting for cash and materials needed).
And this is not even accounting for the locker cooldown preventing you from playing more. Good luck buddy.
I hope I didn't do any calculations wrong. Also be aware that this does not account for free packs with 5 cards in it, and a few other factors. And in all fairness, you get stuff from other sources than just free packs or pvp lockers, but this should give you SOME idea of the time sink (and money trap) that this game really is.
I am not trying to make the game look bad. Just trying to get the facts out. And maybe I'm just being a bit salty, but judging from the others reaction, I am not the only one.
Sorry for the long post, hope you found some value in it.
Dont forget how expensive it gets to upgrade your cards after a while... If you want to keep upgrading them at level 4 or higher, it can cost you many hundreds to do a single stat upgrade (like adding +3 health), making it very hard to keep upgrading without paying real money for game coins. If you try to do it using free packs, and get between 30 and 70 per pack, you can easily need more than 10 packs to do a single upgrade on a single card.
Not to mention when you level the card up, it will cost you several thousands at once.
The Canadian Devil is laughing all the way to the bank...
Dont get me wrong though, I like this game (except for all the PvP cheaters). I am just not sure that everything is properly balanced yet...
Perhaps the 4 hour card packs should scale with your level to avoid things from slowing down too much as you progress? So you get a bit of extra upgrade items/cash/etc if you are a higher level.
Another thing that bothers me a little bit is that since upgrade items and cash are limited, you might spend everything into the wrong theme or the wrong cards. Its really hard to change your deck when you know virtually every card is useless unless you have upgraded it and there is no way to reset your upgrades and get the money and items back to try another setup. So you either play with the cards that you always used, that are already upgraded, or you play with a new set of cards and get crushed![]()
Changing a few cards within a theme or playing around with the neutrals is fine, but swapping out an entire theme would be a nightmare.
